Senior Analytical Chemist

Apex Systems is searching for a Senior Analytical Chemist for our client in Mississauga, ON. Our client is in the Medical Device industry and is looking for someone with a background in chemistry, and experience different chromatographys (i.e. GC, HPLC), method development and transfer,  and experience writing and editing SOPs . This position is a full-time permanent position.

Location: Mississauga, ON (5 days/week onsite work required)

Responsibilities:

  • Develop stability schedule and monitor stability program
  • Schedule QC testing to ensure timelines are met
  • Write, update and review QC SOPs and test methods as needed. 
  • Perform method validation/transfer when required.
  • Responsible for equipment qualification, maintenance and the instrument calibration program
  • Conduct out of specification, non-conformance and deviation investigations as needed
  • Implementation of improvements within the lab
  • Ensure safety procedures are being followed and dispose of lab waste appropriately.
  • Anticipate and solve technical problems.
  • Perform in-process, finished product and stability testing.
  • Ensure work is in compliance with GMP and established SOPs.  
Key Qualifications: 
  • Minimum a B.Sc or equivalent undergraduate degree in scientific/engineering area
  • Understand basic QC lab practice and GMP requirements.
  • Minimum 3 years working experience in the chemistry or chemical engineering field.
  • Proven good oral and written communication skills
  • Advanced computer skills, e.g. proficient in the Microsoft suite, Adobe Acrobat
  • Experienced in advanced analytical techniques such as HPLC, GC, ICP, etc.
  • Detail oriented and excellent organizational skills.
  • Analytical mindset and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Excellent written/oral communication and organizational skills.
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills and ability to “think outside the box”
  • Ability to work autonomously.
  • Self-motivated and self-directed.
  • Adaptable and willing to take on multiple new tasks and responsibilities.
  • Ability to work independently as well as participating in a team of professionals.
  • Ability to respond to urgent situations appropriately by prioritization.
  • Ability to leverage relationships across other business units and with external sources.
  • Ability to follow-up with individuals without guidance.
