***This session is worth 1 Leadership PDU until 7/21/2022!***

Once upon a time there was a software development team. Every day they worked remotely. One day they committed to implementing agile principles even though their team size and locations were not what most would hope for when implementing agile practices. Because of that, many new team processes were implemented. Because of that, the team experimented often and continually adapted. Until finally the team of 36 people in 36 locations spread across 4 time zones became one team.

During this session, Kupe will talk about his role as Delivery Leader and how he worked with his team to implement agile principles when all the odds were against them. You will walk away with ideas you and your team can use to improve your efficiency and effectiveness.

Session Objectives
• Learn how it all starts with One Team
• See how you can adapt many agile principles when your team is not the ideal size
• Experience key take-aways to implement with your team

One of the most underestimated features of Power BI is it’s powerful data cleansing or data shaping capability. Without needing to be an expert in writing code you can now handle complex data quality issues so your reports are always showing the best version of your data. The data shaping capabilities in Power BI have become so popular that it’s features are now being added to other BI tools with the Microsoft Data Ecosystem. Come and learn how you can own the data cleansing process in your organization with Power BI and it’s Power Query Editor.

Ransomware has evolved again and has some new tricks up its sleeve that are causing more trouble than ever. Although some ransomware gangs said they would halt attacks in healthcare during the crisis, the attacks continue. On top of that, cybercriminals have been taking advantage of the challenges related to the COVID-19 pandemic to intensify phishing and smishing attacks while people are working from home, putting in longer hours and are less protected.

In this webinar, we will discuss the latest trends in ransomware and the methods the attackers are using now to spread it. Plus, key defensive strategies you can use now against ransomware and phishing attacks during this time of rapid change.

We will cover:
o New tricks the ransomware attackers are employing
o The rise in attacks around the COVID-19 pandemic
o Defending against the new threats
o How to create your human firewall

From Chaos to Confidence – Reclaiming Your Power in Turbulent Times

“The battlefield is a scene of constant chaos. The winner will be the one who controls the chaos, both his own and his enemies.” – Napoleon Bonaparte

If you want to succeed in today’s economy, you must know how to deal with the ever-changing, chaotic times. You must be able to accurately perceive the world out there, and truly understand the world within you.

In times of change, it’s easy for the stress to cause your mind to take shortcuts. You might see everything in black or white, good or bad, and in the absence of data you assume the worst. But, if you take the time to measure and examine your thinking habits, and assess if your thoughts are truly adding value, you might find that your mind is working against you. It doesn’t have to be that way.

Topics:
• Stress effects of a Delayed Return Environment
• The T.E.A.R. model of results
• Measuring your thinking habits quickly and accurately
• Mastering self-leadership and thriving through chaos
• Instantly shifting to your thinking strengths to reclaim your power

Learning Objectives:
• Framework for getting better results
• Framework for creating value (even in turbulent times)
• Free assessment and video short course to access your mind’s strengths
• Resources for mastering self-leadership and self-confidence

There’s a lot of work involved to build and deploy a modern JavaScript application. In addition to building the code, you have to worry about deploying your APIs, securing server-side routes, handling login/logout for users, and more. In this session Dan Wahlin will walk you through a cloud service called Azure Static Web Apps, show how it can automate your builds in Github, deploy your bundles and APIs up to Azure, and even allow you to configure routes and security. The best part about it is you can get started using the service for free!

Java has had type inference for a while, with much significant change towards this in more recent versions. In this presentation we’ll step back and understand what type inference provides, how Java does it, when we should use it, and when we should avoid it. We’ll take a pragmatic approach to using this feature, learn about where we can benefit and also how to avoid some of the negative effects of it.
