Java has had type inference for a while, with much significant change towards this in more recent versions. In this presentation Venkat Subramaniam takes a step back to help us understand what type inference provides, how Java does it, when we should use it, and when we should avoid it. He takes a pragmatic approach to using this feature, learn about where we can benefit and also how to avoid some of the negative effects of Java type inference.
