API Scrum Team

Case Study Banking

A Fortune 500 financial firm uses Apex’s Agile approach to modernize their application and compliance processes, while upskilling and training their Scrum resources.

SITUATION

Our client, a Fortune 500 Financial Services Firm, was upgrading to Tier One (Big Bank) status and was modernizing their application systems and compliance processes. Current full time employees were assisting with the upgrade, so our client needed a support team to supplement their existing scrum teams and cover the delivery backlog during the project. They needed a collaborative partner to train the additional resources on their internal scrum team methods as well as to provide performance management, workforce oversight and deliver knowledge retention. The client had traditionally used international suppliers for this type of work, but chose us as a partner because of our ability to deliver contract-to-hire options for knowledge retention and our value added services, such as training, reporting and performance management offerings.

SOLUTION

We provided a solution that included identifying a qualified team, a customized training package, and established oversight of consultant performance and productivity. In order to overcome the challenge of finding niche talent locally, we targeted close-fit, willing to relocate, resources and leveraged our Talent University offerings to train consultants on our client’s scrum team methodologies and procedures. Our training program incorporated monthly Lunch and Learns, Boot Camps and self-directed SkillSoft training to upskill talent, primarily in the areas of Microservices and Core Java. We also provided customized reporting, performance management and coaching to support timelines and maintain client satisfaction.

Entire Team Onboarded in Same Day

RESULT

We provided a team of 11 scrum masters and engineers to support our client’s existing scrum teams, alleviating their delivery backlog and allowing them to move forward with their Tier One (Big Bank) transition. By upskilling talent to meet the client’s need, we quickly identified the resources required. The client was impressed by our ability to deliver on short timelines and by the team’s ability to ramp up quickly and effectively support their project.
