A Fortune 100 oil and gas company utilizes the expertise of Apex’s ERP Practice Team to build a group of consultants that modernizes their SAP systems.   

SCOPE AND OBJECTIVES 

Our client began a large initiative to replace their traditional legacy SAP System with a state of the art in-memory S4/HANA Greenfield Application with a program budget of over $300 million. To have greater control over cost and more accountable partners, they consolidated their existing suppliers list from 30 to two. Due to the strength of our dedicated ERP Practice Group, Apex was awarded and entrusted as one of the two sole suppliers for all staff augmentation services to support this initiative. 

SOLUTION  

Following award, we immediately engaged a team of resources that included ERP Practice Group leadership and SMEs, a national account team, local teams, and back office teams. Critical steps included our SAP Delivery SME meeting with the client for a thorough examination and understanding of our client’s technical landscape, followed by the development of a technical skills matrix. This matrix was used by our technical recruiters and account teams for sourcing, screening, vetting, and onboarding resources for the following Functional Process Areas: 

  • Hydro carbon Supply Chain Management – IS-Oil/SCM 
  • Order to Cash – SAP SD/MM/LE – CLM/FICO/CRM – Salesforce  
  • Procure to pay – SAP MM/FI (AP) – SCM/CLM/SRM/PM/WM/PS – Ariba   
  • Hire to Retire – SAP HCM / Success Factors  
  • Record to Report – SAP FICO/IS-Oil – Simple Finance (HANA)/SAP BPC 

Apex specifically selected and used, in addition to the recruiting team, experienced architects and developers to build a customized screening program for the client to further vet candidate’s skills. By combining their experience and the guidance of the tailored technical skills matrix, our team ensured the expedited and successful delivery of best-fitting resources for this engagement.

RESULT  

Apex allocated the appropriate resources from dedicated National and Local Account Teams, our ERP Practice group and corporate support teams for the development and successful implementation of a tailored solution. This combined solution ensured proper adherence to strict client SLAs, expedited delivery of SAP professionals, and pricing discounts. Within eight months, we delivered 60 placements, including over 40 SAP professionals. Most recent quarter results indicated a 100% fill ratio for placements in field locations within Texas, North Dakota and Alaska. Currently, Apex has over 30 active placements and continues to support their strategic business transformation initiatives.
