Position Description:

This request is to fill a Software Engineer position on the IT Connected Vehicle Over-The-Air team. The Software Engineer role will work on a Balanced Team and collaborate with a Product Owner, Product Manager, Product Designer and Software Engineers to deliver projects and features to support future Connected Vehicle programs. Key Responsibilities: - Software Engineer will be responsible to Define, Design, Develop, and Deploy applications/services and proof-of-concepts to support new Over-The-Air vehicle features. - Ensure quality, on-time delivery using agile, test driven development principles. - Requires working with a Product Manager and Product Designer to shape the technology direction for the Over-The-Air Product Line - Collaborate with a balanced team of developers to deliver projects/features. - Span multiple environments to support end-to-end feature delivery. - Collaborate with global, cross-functional stakeholders.


Technical Skills Required: ******* Over target bids will NOT be considered ******* * 2+ years of front end development experience, * 1.5+ experience in Angular 6+ a must have * 2+ Java Spring Boot experience *2+ yrs experience in Paas environment like PCF * 2.5+ Typescript * Clean coding experience * 2+ years Test Driven Development (TDD) for front end development * 1+ years Extreme Programming * IDE set: Eclipse or IntelliJ or Webstorm * Should be familiar with backend development * Should be willing to engage in pair programming

Nice to Have: PCF, GitHub, Jenkins, Nexus, Sonar Splunk, relational DB or non-relational DB Strong communication skills Backend REST development experience using Spring/Spring Boot is good to have Knowledge about GCP

Project Details – Size, Scale, Scope?

This team handles over the air vehicle updates. Composed of Software Engineers who build and support cloud that delivers software updates to vehicles globally. They’re moving to GCP this year. GCP is nice to have but not a requirement. He wants extremely technical software engineers. It’s all Java or Java related work. 60% new development and 20% broad support fixing bugs. Some of the work is firefighting and production support as well. He’s looking for a computer science background who understands the fundamentals of building a scalable system.

Team Zelda – the product is for over the air updates. They do the governance for the software and packages. Oversee information from upstream that’s released to them. It goes through various processes to discover vehicles for over the air updates and then deploys.

This is a Full Stack role. 40% front end work 60% backend work.

Not looking for rapid hire – wants to take time with Apex Systems to hire the right people (scaled approach).

What are the top must-have technologies/required experience for the position?

  1. Java 8+
  2. Spring Boot
  3. Kafka
  4. DevOps Concepts (CI/CD & Containers)
  5. Relational Database experience (see below)
  6. Rest APIs (developing not just consuming)
  7. Cloud (can take anything but preference is GCP)
  8. Angular- newer versions preferred (not looking for AngularJS)

Preferred qualifications:

  1.  Azure Cosmos DB and/or MongoDB – they’re moving away from SQL. They will take someone with SQL but needs to be well rounded in other areas.

Needed Soft Skills/Company Culture: Collaborative team member – can explain what’s going on inside of their mind. Needs to be willing to be all hands on deck. Think outside of the box.
