Data Architect – Capital Markets

Client: Big Five Bank

Terms: 6 month – possibility of conversion

Location: Hybrid 2-3 days in office, Downtown Toronto

Reporting to the Managing Director, the Senior Data Architect will be responsible for the designing and implementation of requirements of complex Data Solutions at our top 5 Bank.


  • Partner with operations to understand business needs and direction and ensure that solutions are designed to meet business goals
  • Excellent communication and strong interpersonal skills to facilitate meetings and complex concepts, including thorough understanding of what may drive business priorities, strategy, and direction, and what may drive customer business needs
  • Collaborate with management, staff and stakeholders on data strategy, architecture, rationalization, quality, and analytics to support strategic business initiatives
  • Provide end-to-end vision and knowledge to projects to help better design solutions
  • Develop Logical and Physical Data Models to ensure adherence to sound data management principles
  • Design and build ETL processes, primarily using SSIS and custom queries as well as variety of data sources such as FTP based flat files
  • Work with BI and Data teams to optimize queries
  • Assist in data validation and cleaning processes


  • 7 plus years of Database Administration experience on MSSQL
  • 5 plus years of AWS Data Platform
  • 5 years of general data analysis experience including excellent understanding of SQL and complex queries
  • 5 years of ETL experience with a good understanding of process automation with tools such as SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS)
  • 7+ years of experience in Capital Markets side of business
    • Exposure to Data Governance, Trade Capture and deal with traders on a regular basis.
