Job Description:
Our client is seeking a Senior Telecommunications/VoIP Engineer to provide support for a Voice over IP (VoIP) modernization effort supporting ARNG/USAR missions. The engineer will work out of offices in Chantilly, VA with some travel to 4,000 sites located in all 50 states, three territories, the District of Columbia, and Europe. This position will provide expert telephony expertise with upgrading and replacing VoIP based telecommunication systems.

Position: Telecom/VoIP Engineer
Location: Chantilly, VA
Terms: Permanent, Direct-Hire
Pay Rate: $150,000 - $190,000 depending on experience
Clearance: Secret required, can hold up to Top Secret
Program description: The Information Technology Enterprise Management Systems Solution (ITEMSS) contract provides the Army with the capability to administer, manage, prepare, and mobilize ARNG and USAR forces more effectively. More than 50 percent of the Army’s force structure is in the Reserve Component. ITEMSS provides a standardized, integrated solution that links approximately 10,500 Guard and Reserve units at approximately 4,000 sites located in all 50 states, three territories, and the District of Columbia.
Job Description:
- Installation and configuration of routers, switches, and VOIP infrastructure across multiple enterprise environments/client locations, both remotely and on-site
- Perform advanced configurations on server infrastructures (mixed virtualized and physical environments)
- Create and maintain detailed diagrams and technical documentation of enterprise voice networks
- Expert knowledge of TCP/IP, LAN, MPLS and general network theory required
- Able to troubleshoot and resolve complex problems
- Partner and work with 3rd party teams and vendors
- Lead device maintenance/firm ware updates/installation activities
Desired Certifications/Education:
- Must possess a current IAT Level II certification: Security +, Server+, CCNP, or CCNA
- BA/BS and at least 10 years of related network engineering/IT experience. Experience in lieu of a degree is acceptable.
Required Experience:
- CCNA certification required
- Cisco Unified Communications Manager
- Familiarity with Avaya and Ribbon VoIP solutions
- Familiarity and understanding of obtaining accreditation (ATO) for new VoIP implementation
- Experience with replacing TDM solution with IP-based version
- PSTN circuits (PRI, T1, SIP, analog, FXO, FXS)
- Network Routing / Switching
- Voice gateways and protocols
- H.323/SIP/MGCP/SCCP
Desired Skills:
- SIP/AS-SIP experience preferred
- Cisco Unified Communications Manager (CUCM) (preferred)
- Cisco Unity/Unity Connection/Unified Messaging (Preferred)
- Cisco UC on UCS (preferred)
- VMWare 6.x (preferred)
- Cisco Telepresence (preferred)
- CCNP/CCNP Voice preferred
- VMWare configuration experience preferred
- Windows Server administration experience preferred
- Network trouble shooting skills
- Experience with other VOIP Equipment Manufactures (Avaya, Logitech, Valcom, Ribbon, etc.)
