Job Description:

Radio Communications Technician

Location: Covington, KY area

Length: 12-month contract – renewing indefinitely

Shift: Mon-Fri 8:00-4:30 PM 

  • On-call: 1 week/month OR 1 week every 5 weeks

 

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for maintenance & repairs of the Kentucky Emergency Warning System microwave radio network.
  • Monitor network for faults & outages.
  • Perform repairs, replacement, & calibration of microwave and RF equipment.
  • Maintain tower site properties, to include general housekeeping as well as pesticide & herbicide application.
  • Provided with an SUV or light truck with recovery gear, to be used while on duty.
  • “On call” duties in response to network outages.
  • Keep up with assigned tools & inventory.
  • May me asked to work outdoors in harsh environments.
  • Qualifications and Education Requirements
  • Technical experience relating to communications equipment maintenance preferable.
  • Electrical maintenance, industrial maintenance, other technical experience will be helpful.
  • Must have valid driver’s license
  • Associates degree, or higher, in a technology field preferable.
  • High school diploma (or equivalent) required.

  • Proficient computer skills
  • Ability to multitask
  • Willingness and ability to learn new skills
  • Radio frequency and/or microwave radio familiarity
  • DC power system knowledge
