Location: San Antonio, TX, Findley, OH, or Denver, CO. (4 days onsite, 1 day remote)
*Travel requirement: 25 - 35%* (Only in the beginning)
Compensation: $115,000 – $144,000
Job Description:
This Operational Technology (OT) Architect position within the Refining IT department will have responsibility for the network, server, and Distributed Control Systems (DCS) architecture throughout the Refining organization. This position will play a vital role in developing the organization’s future vision, product roadmap, and value stream flight map as well as driving innovation in technology to deliver forward looking OT solutions. A successful candidate will have both a focus on Enterprise products and of Field capabilities to drive digital adoption.
This position will have responsibility to set strategy for the onsite Refining OT teams. They must effectively collaborate with Refining stakeholders as well as peers across IT, Infrastructure, and Cybersecurity.
The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of OT networking principles and be able to define and apply industry best practices to our suite of OT technologies and tools while also providing thought leadership to the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and implement OT architecture solutions in alignment with both the Enterprise Architecture (EA) program and the Refining Technologist organization across the enterprise.
- Performs technical planning, architecture development, and modification of existing standards and specifications.
- Develops standards and specifications for new products, applications, and service offerings. Ensures that solutions are designed to meet business requirements and are aligned with the overall strategy of IT.
- Supports the development of business cases and assists in vendor negotiation.
- Contribute to a business-oriented focus and team culture, working closely with business and IT management to establish priorities and deliver solutions that best support the business needs and enable future enterprise capabilities.
- Stay up to date with the latest advancements in digital solutions, such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, and OT virtualization to evaluate their potential for adoption within the organization.
- Develop OT roadmaps and contribute to Value Stream flight maps for the Refining OT Solutions product.
- Participate in market and solution assessments to address new or enhanced business capabilities.
- Adapt and execute plans and priorities based on established strategies and objectives
- Identifies and solves technical and operational problems; understands and recognizes broader impact across the area of responsibility.
- Consistently promote and ensure compliance with all client policies and standards. Ensure compliance with standards to achieve “Effective” audits. Remediate any audit finding within 90 days of a report being issued. Proactively work with auditing to ensure proper Auditing controls are in place and are maintained.
- Consistently promote and display client values. Promote corporate C.O.R.E. initiatives including health, safety, environmental stewardship, integrity, corporate citizenship, diversity and inclusion.
- Maintain current knowledge of technology trends within the OT and Oil & Gas industry; as well as foster knowledge sharing and collaboration with the client groups.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in MIS, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or other related disciplines preferred.
- Minimum 7+ years of IT or OT infrastructure experience required, with direct operational client facing experience preferred.
- 7+ years of relevant architecture experience required.
- Strong understanding of Portfolio and Agile management is a plus.
- Microsoft, VMware, and/or Cisco certifications are a plus.
- Experience with Honeywell Experion, Emerson DeltaV, Foxboro, or other SCADA systems is a plus.
- Experience partnering with suppliers, service providers, business facing IT, and clients to deliver solutions.
- Strong communication and change leadership essential.
- Thorough understanding of the Purdue Enterprise Reference Architecture.
- A firm understanding of computing security and reliability practices is required.
- This position will require some field work inside the refinery process unit
