Job Description:
- We are seeking a skilled and experienced Applications Database Administrator (SQL) with a strong background in the Financial Industry to join our team. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in the management and optimization of our Microsoft SQL Server and Azure database environments, with a primary focus on performance tuning. If you are a proactive and detail-oriented DBA with expertise in SQL database performance, backup and recovery, and experience in database migrations, we want to hear from you.
Key Responsibilities:
- Proactive Performance and Capacity Review: Conduct regular assessments of database performance and capacity to ensure optimal functionality and identify potential areas for improvement.
- Subject Matter Expert (SME): Act as the go-to expert for Microsoft SQL Server and Azure database technologies, providing guidance and expertise to the team.
- Database Backup and Restore: Manage database backup and restore processes, including scheduled tests of Disaster Recovery (DR) availability. Demonstrated knowledge of MS SQL restoration techniques and familiarity with availability technologies such as Clustering, Replication, and Always-On is essential.
- Upkeep and Availability: Take ownership of day-to-day activities related to the maintenance and availability of both Production and Non-Production database servers.
- SQL Code Review: Collaborate with application teams to enforce SQL coding standards and implement performance tuning strategies, ensuring efficient and optimized database operations.
- Performance Metrics and Best Practices: Build and generate reports on SQL environment performance and availability metrics. Implement best practices and optimizations as needed to ensure the highest level of performance.
- Technical Analysis and Design: Provide technical analysis and design support for current and future projects, ensuring that database requirements are met and optimized.
- Database Migration: Play a key role in migrating databases from On-Premise to Azure, demonstrating expertise in migration processes and minimizing downtime.
Qualifications:- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
- Proven experience as an Applications Database Administrator with a focus on SQL databases, particularly in the Financial Industry.
- In-depth knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server and Azure database technologies.
- Expertise in database performance tuning, backup and recovery strategies, and database migration processes.
- Familiarity with availability technologies such as Clustering, Replication, and Always-On.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
- A proactive and results-driven mindset.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate) are a plus.
