Expected Hours: Full Time Contract - 37.5 hours / week
Contract Length: 6 Months (3x 6 month extension available)

Project Description: 
Technology Services (TS) is responsible for a number of large-scale IT projects for the Health Authorities of British Columbia. These projects can include IT infrastructure, cloud, security, integration and strategic initiatives.
Technology Services requires an additional IT Firewall Administrator to support a variety of infrastructure and security projects within a growing security portfolio.
The IT Firewall Administrator will work closely with the Director, Portfolio/Program Managers, Project Managers, Project/Program Coordinators, and a variety of internal and external stakeholders to effectively deliver business results by championing a culture of accountability and consistent application of project management practices.

Services Required:
The scope of services will include the following:
  1. Implement / change firewall, proxy IDS/IPS rules
  2. Work with customers / vendors to troubleshoot project related firewall, proxy and IDS/IPS issues
  3. Update project / operational documentation and progress production change requests as required for firewall and zoning related activities
  4. Experience working with both Fortinet and Palo Alto Firewalls is required 
Specific Qualifications or Experience Required: 
A level of education, training, and experience equivalent to a university degree or technical diploma in a Computer Science program, plus related certifications, and at least four (4) years of recent experience implementing / supporting firewall rules, active directory, and DNS in a large, complex corporate environment with multiple data centers. In addition, the selected candidate will have the following experience:
  • Strong understanding of logical network and firewalling principles
  • Strong operational knowledge of Fortinet/Palo Alto/Cisco Firewalls, F5 LTM, and Microsoft ISA/TMG
  • Exceptional analytical and problem solving skills
  • Self-directed, highly motivated, and results-oriented
  • Good communication, customer interaction, and organizational skills
  • Ability to work on multiple concurrent projects and multi-task
  • Team player with well-developed interpersonal skills
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient computer skills using Microsoft Office
  • CCNA or equivalent certification is preferred
Constraints and Special Considerations:
Proposed candidates should be located in BC, as they will be required to come into the office once per month.
