Stability Lab Technician

Job Description:

Apex Systems is actively seeking a Stability Lab Technician for a long term renewable contract opportunity with one of the worlds largest producers and marketers of tobacco, cigarettes and related products.
Specific accountabilities include:
  • The incumbent will perform routine and non-routine testing for tobacco and non-tobacco products including: sample preparation, instrumental analysis, data review, and other activities, as required.
  • The incumbent will perform testing to determine the water vapor transmission rate of packaging materials.
  • The incumbent will execute accelerated stability studies, activities to include:
    • Communication and collaboration with end client scientists to ensure timely receipt of samples for assessment.
    • In collaboration with senior scientists, development of sample stressing plans utilizing ASAPprime software.
    • Creation of plans that outline and schedule daily activities to support ongoing and upcoming studies, with regular status communication to end client scientists.
    • Laboratory activities including but not limited to preparation of saturated salt solutions, labeling of sample containers, weighing and preparation of samples for stressing, introducing/removing samples from stressing conditions at appropriate times, setting and verifying oven setpoints, logging of temperature/humidity as required, management of laboratory inventory to support accelerated stability activities.
    • Coordination and communication with analytical chemists regarding samples in queue and specific analytical testing required.  At the end of a stressing study, the incumbent will ensure delivery of samples to the appropriate resource for analytical testing.
    • Recordkeeping of activities in electronic format.

Desired Qualifications include:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biology or closely related field with demonstrated experience in an analytical chemistry testing laboratory
  • A minimum of 1-3 years laboratory experience working with analytical balances, water activity meters, and general laboratory equipment.
  • Familiarity with accelerated stability testing utilizing ASAPprime software from Freethink Technologies highly preferred.
