SAS Viya Consultant
Apex Systems is a global IT services provider, and our staffing practice has an opening for a SAS Viya Technical Lead with SAS, MSFT suite, and migration experience to place at our client, a Big Five Bank.
Client: Big Five Bank
Terms: 6-month contract. Possibility of extension for another 12 months
Location: Hybrid, downtown Toronto, 2 day a week in the office.
Hours: 37.5 hours/week Monday-Friday, 9:00 am - 5:00 pm

JOB PURPOSE 
 
  • The incumbent must be self-motivated with project management experience, knowledge of the technologies used to support BI/Analytical standard tools, a broad knowledge of various Lines of Business and enterprise-wide processes. The incumbent works closely with the key partners (LOBs, External Contractors, Information Security, Risk Management, Corporate Services and Vendors) and working team to ensure that business/client issues are well planned, understood, and addressed.
  • As a SAS Viya Consultant, the incumbent will be responsible for end-to-end migration process from SAS 9 to SAS Viya, including planning, execution, and post-migration support and thereafter owning it from technology perspective.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand and document business requirements and translate them into technical solutions within the SAS Viya environment.
  • Own,represent and consult on a wide range of enterprise initiatives related to SAS and related analytical services.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
 
  • Be the owner of SAS Viya/SAS 9 encompassing the responsibilities as a center of excellence hub for the other lines of businesses.
  • Lead the end-to-end migration process from SAS 9 to SAS Viya, including planning, execution, and post-migration support.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and translate them into technical solutions within the SAS Viya environment.
  • Provide expertise in SAS Viya architecture, administration, and configuration to optimize performance and reliability.
  • Conduct training sessions for internal teams to ensure a smooth adoption of SAS Viya technology.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve any technical issues that may arise during the migration process, ensuring minimal disruption to business operations.
  • Stay abreast of the latest SAS Viya updates and features to continually enhance the companys analytics capabilities.
  • Work closely with stakeholders to gather feedback and make necessary adjustments to meet evolving business needs.
  • Lead and partner with Technology, Enterprise Architecture, and other business groups with a focus of fostering BI/Analytics research & innovation culture
  • Work closely with the working team to manage ongoing projects while assisting by identifying next steps, risks, issues, and dependencies

The Consultant, Enterprise Analytics Enablement collaborates with peers and executives both inside and outside the work unit.

JOB DIMENSIONS
 
  • Maintaining a long term focus while ensuring that the daily base-service responsibilities of the department are developed, maintained and improved.
  • Remaining current in the knowledge of internal / external approaches to BI, Analytics tools and industry standards. Ensuring that the solutions developed and recommendations provided are in-line with corporate direction and the methodologies employed by other lines of business.
  • Educating internal clients and other lines of business on the department’s objectives and activities; representing and promoting the department’s approach to tool standardization
  • Balancing a corporate, enterprise-wide perspective with specific business needs in the development of the business unit’s strategy and implementation options. Ensuring the implications for corporate governance are considered, and that the reliability and objectivity of information is evaluated.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
What we’re looking for:
 
  • Proven experience as a SAS Viya Consultant with excellent understanding SAS 9 architecture. Need to have a track record of successfully leading technology migration projects.
  • In-depth knowledge of SAS Viya architecture, administration, and configuration
  • Good programming skills in SAS programming languages.
  • Prior experience of working closely with technology groups; familiarity of enterprise wide technology, architectural, change, project  management policies and methodologies
  • Business analysis and consulting skills to precisely understand , articulate and document  business requirements and ideas that involve interpretation, analysis and assessment.
  • Prior experience in training and mentoring teams on SAS Viya usage.
  • Prior knowledge and experience of handling application releases, operational management, data governance, process management, and project management
  • Project planning, management and scheduling skills sufficient to prioritize projects and meet project deadlines and budget.
  • Presentation/interactive/analytical skills sufficient to convey both factual and conceptual information (including presentation to executives)
  • Hands-on experience and understanding of Business Intelligence and Analytical tool(s) from a business/end-user standpoint. Preferred candidate will have experience in successful implementation and/or delivery of SAS with particular focus in Automate, Apps, Pages and Virtual Agent
  • Prior experience of working closely with technology groups; familiarity of enterprise wide technology, architectural, change, project  management policies and methodologies
  • Business analysis and consulting skills to precisely articulate & understand business requirements and ideas that involve interpretation, analysis and assessment.
  • Influencing skills sufficient to obtain support of executive level management and elicit cooperation and consensus form business leaders in the implementation of programs and in situations that involve the promotion of our client’s interests.
  • Act as an owner with the ability to adapt and take initiative
