Rand Blazer

Rand Blazer

President

As President of Apex Systems, Rand Blazer is responsible for managing the company and its operations.  Mr. Blazer strengthened the company’s focus on bottom line results and operational productivity. He instituted new account strategies, moved the company into providing consultative IT services, and updated the company’s performance management process. During his tenure, Apex has posted over 20% top-line revenue growth going from $300m to more than $2.2B (all organic growth).  Prior to joining Apex, Mr. Blazer was an executive with Bearing Point, a global consulting firm.  Rand earned an MBA from the University of Kentucky and a BA in Economics from McDaniel College. He also served as a Captain in the United States Army.

Chief Operating Officer

Sean Casey, Apex’s Chief Operating Officer, was the 9th employee at Apex and began his career as an Account Manager.  After one year of sales, he expanded Apex's footprint by establishing the company's 4th branch in Baltimore, MD.  As a Regional Manager, he contributed to the company’s growth from $10 million in revenue to over $2.2 billion in revenue and 3,000+ employees. He has been in the consulting/staffing industry for over 25+ years and brings a wealth of knowledge to the team.  He graduated from Syracuse University in 1994 with a BA in Speech Communications.

Shawn Handley

Shawn Handley

Chief Marketing Officer

As Apex’s chief marketing & communications officer, Shawn Handley, a Virginia Tech graduate leads a focused team of marketing and communications professionals.  He has 21+ years’ experience in the staffing and consulting industry and provides valuable guidance to his team as they strengthen and enhance the Apex brand.  Shawn is responsible for corporate communications, digital platforms, industry analysis, media relations, digital and print advertising, brand positioning, and corporate sponsorships. He is a member of the Apex senior management council and the corporate responsibility committee.

Rob Lowry

Rob Lowry

Executive Vice President of Delivery

As EVP of Delivery for Apex, Rob Lowry has responsibility for the company’s overall recruiting performance and strategies. This includes providing leadership on recruiting tools, practices, and technologies as well as professional development for the company’s Recruiters and Delivery Managers. He is also responsible for the management of the Apex National Recruiting Center, a centralized recruiting function that provides additional support to our field offices.Rob began his career with Apex in 1996 and has held multiple roles within the company.  Lowry is originally from Arlington, VA and is a 1995 graduate of Virginia Tech where he earned a BS in Finance.

Michele McCauley

Michele McCauley

Chief Human Resources Officer

Michele McCauley began her career with Apex in 1998 as a recruiter.  She was quickly recognized as a top performer winning top recruiter her first year.  McCauley was instrumental in building Apex internally as she transitioned into our first internal recruiter.  As Apex expanded, she developed that role into managing a team of internal recruiters while assisting with marketing, RFPs, and internal communications.  Her ability to advance these functional departments led to her role today, as Chief Human Resources Officer.   Michele graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology.

Robin Palmer

Robin Palmer

Executive Vice President of Consulting Services

Robin Palmer joined Apex in 2009 where he started and continues to lead the Consulting Services business.  In addition to executive-level management of key strategic client relationships and engagement delivery, Robin is responsible for the overall growth of the business, go to market strategy, Consulting Services Sales, client delivery success, consultant development, risk management and day to day operations.  Prior to joining Apex, he was a 28-year consulting veteran and held executive roles at KPMG Consulting/BearingPoint. Robin graduated from the University of Witwatersrand with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting.

Executive Vice President of Consulting Services

As Apex’s Executive Vice President (EVP) Jason has responsibility for Apex’s Consulting Services business. He has supported numerous mid-to-large size clients in a variety of sales and engagement delivery leadership roles. Jason leads a team of industry leaders, managing directors, and engagement managers who are responsible for making our customers successful in the marketplace. He has successfully delivered a wide variety of workforce mobilization, modern enterprise, and digital innovation project solutions to numerous Apex clients.  He is a graduate of the University of Mary Washington.  His education and longstanding 20+ year career with Apex equip him to provide clients with deep and valuable leadership experience.

Paige Turnes

Paige Turnes

Chief Financial Officer

Paige Turnes, Apex’s Chief Financial Officer, graduated from Longwood College (now known as Longwood University) with a BSBA, concentrations in both Accounting and Finance, and is a CPA.  She started with Apex Systems as an Assistant Controller and has been an instrumental force in the company over the past 19 years, supporting its growth from $38 million to over $2 billion to date. As CFO and principal, Turnes works with field leaders to drive current business and find creative solutions to client needs. In the past years, she has aided in synergizing the Apex brand by spearheading the integration of Apex Life Sciences teams and entities into the Apex Systems business.

Rob Waddell

Rob Waddell

Chief Information Officer

Rob Waddell is the Chief Information Officer for Apex systems and a graduate of Virginia Tech.  He joined Apex in December 2006, bringing more than 35 years of information technology experience from multiple industries.  Since becoming the Apex CIO, Rob’s emphasis on growing and nurturing a lean, efficient, and effective team has been integral to his success at Apex.  Rob currently serves on the board of Virginia Tech’s Pamplin School of Business and Information Technology department and as a member of Wall Street Journal CIO network, he participates in executive roundtable discussions on the future of technology.  Waddell is a member of the Apex Senior Management Council and chairs the field technology working committee.
