Job Description:
Location: Radford, VA. This position is primarily remote. Occasional onsite presence in Radford, VA may be required for key meetings, integration efforts, or mission needs (typically 1–3 times per year or less).
As a DevSecOps Engineer, you will help design and operate a secure, scalable DevSecOps framework for containerized applications running in a Kubernetes environment. This role involves automating infrastructure and application delivery while embedding security controls directly into the CI/CD pipelines.
- Designing, implementing, and maintaining CI/CD pipelines that integrate development, security, and operations.
- Automating infrastructure and application delivery using Infrastructure as Code tools like Terraform and Ansible.
- Partnering with developers to containerize legacy applications and migrate them into Kubernetes-based platforms, including OpenShift or similar distributions.
- Embedding security controls directly into pipelines, including static and dynamic application security testing (SAST/DAST), container image vulnerability scanning, and configuration checks.
- Implementing secrets management solutions to protect sensitive data across pipelines and runtime environments.
- Monitoring pipeline health, application performance, and security posture using dashboards and observability tools.
- Collaborating with developers, platform engineers, and cybersecurity teams to ensure applications meet security, compliance, and operational standards.
- Helping teams adopt DevSecOps best practices through guidance, documentation, and hands-on support.
Clearance: Candidates must be able to obtain and/or maintain a Department of Defense (DoD) Secret level Security Clearance as a condition or continuation of employment.
Experience:
- Hands-on experience implementing and managing DevSecOps frameworks in a cloud or enterprise environment.
- Strong experience with CI/CD tooling such as GitLab, Azure DevOps, or Atlassian toolchains.
- Proficiency with Infrastructure as Code tools like Terraform and Ansible.
- Experience working with Docker and Kubernetes.
- Comfortable working in environments with strong security and compliance requirements.
Certifications:
- Must possess a DoD 8570.01-M IAT Level II certification (e.g., Security+ CE).
- Experience with security scanning tools such as SonarQube, OWASP ZAP, or Burp Suite.
- Familiarity with container image scanning tools like Trivy, Clair, or Anchore.
- Experience with secrets management platforms such as HashiCorp Vault or Sealed Secrets.
- Scripting experience with Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
- Exposure to security frameworks such as NIST 800-53 or CIS Benchmarks.
- Experience monitoring Kubernetes and CI/CD environments using tools like Prometheus or Grafana.
- Willingness to obtain relevant platform or DevOps certifications within the first 6 months.

The anticipated pay range for this position is $70.00/hr to $80.00/hr. Please note that the final pay rate will be determined based on a variety of factors, including the candidate's experience, qualifications, and the specific requirements of the role.
