Location: Linthicum, MD (On-site)
Clearance: Secret Clearance
Rate: $60 - $65 / Hour
We are seeking an RF Test and Power Engineer for a production test engineering role. The position involves acting as the technical escalation point for test failures, supporting test technicians, and ensuring test systems remain operational. This is a hands-on role focused on diagnosing hardware issues in a post-production lab environment after design and integration are complete. The engineer will identify why a test has failed, document findings, and route the hardware to the appropriate repair team.
- Provide technical support to test technicians to diagnose and resolve issues with the test process.
- Ensure test sets remain online and operational, assisting operators with troubleshooting.
- Analyze failing hardware, such as circuit boards and components, to determine the root cause of failure.
- Utilize test equipment like oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, and signal generators to diagnose issues at the board level.
- Document findings by creating Quality Notices (QNs) and logging issues into internal systems.
- Collaborate with manufacturing management, production engineers, design engineers, and program teams.
- Monitor product yields and contribute to initiatives to maintain and improve performance.
Education: A bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related STEM field is required.
Experience: A minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience is required. Candidates with a master's degree and 3 years of experience will also be considered.
Technical Skills:
- Demonstrated experience with high-power and high-voltage testing (e.g., ~240V, 30-40 amps).
- Practical, hands-on understanding of power flow, load behavior, and safety protocols.
- Experience with power components including transistors, capacitors, and circuitry.
- Proficiency in using test equipment such as oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, signal generators, and power meters.
- Ability to read and interpret specifications, schematics, and block diagrams.
- Proven ability to troubleshoot power systems and components.
- U.S. citizenship is required for this position.
- Candidates with a DOD Secret Clearance are highly preferred for this position
- An advanced degree in Engineering with a focus on power systems.
- Experience troubleshooting complex circuitry at the component or system level.
- Familiarity with programming languages such as LabWindows CVI or C/C++.
- Experience with Test Stand programming.
- Knowledge of digital, analog, and RF test equipment and theory.
- Experience with PXI/PXIe and VME bus architecture.
