Location: Elkridge, Maryland (Onsite)
Employment Type: Contract

 
Role Overview

An opportunity is available for an Engineering Writer to join a high-performing team. The selected candidate will fulfill engineering writing requirements for electronic systems, sensors, and radar systems. This role operates within an Integrated Product Team (IPT) structure. This position does not permit teleworking.

 
Key Responsibilities
  • Write, rewrite, and/or edit technical publications covering the operation and maintenance of sensors and systems.
  • Research and compile information from contractual and engineering sources.
  • Develop technical publications that adhere to military specifications and standards.
  • Create materials covering hardware description, operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and parts information for a wide range of audiences.
  • Publish materials in page-based, electronic (basic and interactive), and structured (HTML, XML, SGML) formats.
  • Collaborate with task leads, writers, engineers, and instructors to develop and deliver technical publications.
  • Conduct quality reviews of technical publications.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications

Education & Experience: A Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM discipline or related field, or a minimum of 7 years of experience in military operations and maintenance with radar, communications, electro-optics, networks, and IT-based sensors/systems is required.

 

Clearance & Citizenship: U.S. citizenship is required. Candidates must possess and maintain a Department of Defense (DoD) Secret clearance.

 

Skills: Candidates must possess communication, interpersonal, problem-solving, and organizational skills. The role requires a self-motivated, proactive, and detail-oriented individual. Proficiency with Word is necessary.

 

Physical & Travel Requirements: The role requires the ability to perform physically demanding tasks in various environmental conditions. Candidates must be able and willing to travel to domestic and international sites if required.

 
Preferred Qualifications
  • Greater than 10 years of engineering writing experience.
  • Willingness to obtain a higher-level clearance, if required.
  • Multi-disciplined experience, such as being a certified military instructor.
Compensation & Benefits

The pay rate for this position is between $25.00 and $50.00 per hour.
