The Electro‑Mechanical Engineering Technologist leads assigned engineering and maintenance initiatives with minimal supervision. This role serves as a subject matter expert in maintenance programs, automation, PLCs, and equipment reliability, while driving optimization of maintenance and facilities projects. The position requires strong independent decision‑making, hands‑on technical expertise, and advanced troubleshooting skills to support Manufacturing and Maintenance operations.
- Lead and maintain PLC programming for mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and automated systems to ensure equipment reliability
- Perform advanced, systematic troubleshooting of electrical and mechanical equipment; direct maintenance technicians and contractors as needed
- Lead installation, upgrades, and commissioning of industrial machinery and automation systems
- Provide hands‑on technical support to maintenance personnel during complex troubleshooting, planned outages, and equipment failures
- Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules; identify, order, and manage required parts while ensuring regulatory compliance
- Conduct routine inspections and Gemba walks; recommend repairs, upgrades, or replacement of obsolete equipment
- Install and upgrade system components to improve performance and optimize equipment reliability
- Promote effective use and accuracy of the CMMS, including work orders, PMs, spare parts, and critical spares
- Evaluate team skillsets and recommend internal or external training opportunities
- Identify improvement opportunities and implement cost‑reduction initiatives
- Mentor and train maintenance technicians
Provides technical leadership and supervision of maintenance technicians as required.
- Strong commitment to environmental stewardship, safety, and regulatory compliance
- Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment across multiple projects
- Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing or Electro‑Mechanical Engineering Technology OR associate degree/trade school completion with at least 7 years of related experience
- Prior lead technician or supervisory experience preferred
- PLC and robotic programming experience required
- Strong written and verbal communication, analytical, and organizational skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and AutoCAD
