A driven and self-motivated Lighting Sales Representative is sought to support a Consumer and Industrial (C&I) customer base across Western Alabama. This role is for a sales professional who is effective in the field, building relationships, and proactively identifying opportunities. Prior lighting experience is not required; training will be provided for candidates with strong sales aptitude and a willingness to learn. This position includes a mix of office and field work, with an emphasis on customer engagement and territory development.
- Manage and grow a sales territory across Western Alabama.
- Spend approximately 60% of time meeting with customers and 30-40% in the Tuscaloosa office.
- Build relationships with a wide range of customers, including retail locations, commercial customers, and large industrial plants.
- Sell lighting solutions ranging from single light bulb purchases to large-scale lighting upgrades.
- Support LED lighting upgrades for existing customers.
- Prospect for new business through a mix of warm leads, customer referrals, cold calling, and in-person outreach.
- Maintain and expand relationships with existing customers while identifying new opportunities.
- Effectively manage territory travel and mileage with personal accountability.
- Learn and stay current on lighting products, programs, and utility offerings.
Experience: 3–5 years of sales experience.
Additional Requirements: Must have access to a personal vehicle; mileage will be reimbursed. The candidate must be comfortable approaching new customers and engaging in face-to-face sales. The role requires a highly self-motivated and proactive individual who does not require constant direction. Strong communication and relationship-building skills are necessary, along with a willingness and aptitude to learn lighting products and utility programs.
- Experience in utilities, lighting, or electrical sales.
- Background selling to commercial or industrial customers.
- Knowledge of energy efficiency or LED technology.
This is an onsite role based out of the Tuscaloosa office, involving significant local travel throughout Western Alabama. The position offers a balanced mix of office responsibilities and field sales activity.
The anticipated pay range for this position is $30.00/hr to $35.00/hr. Please note that this is a contract role and benefits may differ from full-time positions.
