Job#: 3031357

Job Description:

Network Engineer I

Location: Monett, MO (Hybrid) - 4 days onsite to start, then will flex to less in the future!

Employment Type: Long Term Contract

Role Overview

An opportunity is available for a Network Engineer to support a large-scale, multi-year router modernization initiative. This role is centered on the deployment and migration of customer-edge routers. The position requires a hands-on, organized, and process-driven individual who is comfortable with direct customer interaction and can provide technical support to both technical and non-technical users. This is an execution-focused role where success is defined by effective communication and consistency.

Key Responsibilities
  • Build and configure routers using existing automation tools and validate configurations.
  • Stage, package, and ship routers directly to customers, following defined processes for documentation and tracking.
  • Communicate with customers regarding installation instructions, cutover timing, and migration expectations.
  • Provide clear guidance and technical support to users during deployment and cutover.
  • Coordinate the return of legacy hardware, ensure returned devices are wiped according to process, and document proof of device wipe.
  • Handle a high volume of router builds, potentially up to 16 per day, requiring strict process adherence.
  • Document network configurations, IP address assignments, and physical layouts to maintain accurate records.
  • Troubleshoot basic connectivity issues and escalate unresolved issues to higher-level engineers.
Required Qualifications

Experience: A foundational understanding of networking is required, including concepts such as IP addressing, NAT and NAT translation, and basic routing. This may be demonstrated through 1 year of experience or equivalent education in network support or engineering.

Technical Skills: The ability to use basic network commands is necessary. Experience with Cisco devices or commands is preferred.

Soft Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills are required. The role requires comfort working directly with customers, a high degree of organization, and the ability to remain productive in a repetitive, high-volume environment.

Preferred Qualifications
  • A CompTIA Network+ certification is considered helpful.
  • A CCNA certification or active pursuit of one is a plus but not required.
Work Environment

This is a high-volume, repeatable deployment role that can involve processing a significant number of routers daily. The work environment is structured, with an emphasis on process adherence, organization, and the use of established tooling and automation. The position requires being onsite 4 days per week with the potential for 1 day of remote work.

Work Schedule

Router building, staging, and shipping are handled during core business hours. Customer support may be required after hours during installation windows. The team operates on a coverage model that includes an early shift (8:00 AM – 5:00 PM CST) and a late shift (11:00 AM – 8:00 PM CST). Some schedule flexibility may be expected to cover either shift.

Compensation & Benefits

The anticipated pay range for this position is $20.00/hr to $30.00/hr. The final pay rate will be determined based on a variety of factors, including the candidate's experience, qualifications, and location. This is a contract position and visa sponsorship is not provided.
