The Test Engineer will play a critical role in the qualification, validation, and ongoing performance verification of Amazon Leo hardware systems. This role is responsible for maintaining and deploying specialized test equipment, executing environmental and RF test campaigns, generating high‑quality test documentation, and collaborating closely with cross-functional engineering teams. The ideal candidate is hands‑on, detail‑oriented, and experienced working with both digital communication systems and RF hardware—particularly in space or high‑reliability environments.

Key Responsibilities (don't need experience with all of the below)

Test Campaign Execution

  • Execute environmental and qualification test campaigns as defined by the Amazon Leo test leadership team.
  • Run RF and digital communications performance tests using standard RF lab equipment and procedures.
  • Provide regular status updates to the Test Execution Lead and notify stakeholders of any schedule impacts or blockers.

Tester & Rack Management

  • Maintain, calibrate, and deploy hardware testers and test racks to support ongoing development and qualification programs.
  • Ensure all test equipment is in calibration and fit for use; initiate corrective actions when nonconformances arise.
  • Support commissioning and verification of test racks and fixtures.

Hardware Handling & Debug Support

  • Handle RF components such as couplers, waveguides, adapters, and high‑frequency connectors in compliance with best practices.
  • Work with responsible engineers to troubleshoot unit failures and assist with root‑cause isolation.

RF Measurement & Test Expertise

  • Utilize common RF test equipment including spectrum analyzers, signal generators, power meters, network analyzers, and associated instrumentation.
  • Perform RF measurements relevant to digital communications systems, ensuring accuracy, repeatability, and data integrity.
  • Verify that RF paths, attenuation networks, and calibration standards in the rack are properly configured.

Documentation & Reporting

  • Produce comprehensive test reports detailing methodologies, conditions, performance results, and observed behaviors.
  • Deliver test data packages to internal teams in a clear, structured, and timely manner.
  • Document any anomalies, hardware issues, or test discrepancies and drive mitigation actions in collaboration with engineering partners.

Basic Qualifications

  • Hands‑on experience with test equipment and digital signal test infrastructures.
  • Understanding of calibration concepts, measurement uncertainty, and RF signal integrity.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of digital communications systems, modulation schemes, and link‑level RF measurements.
  • Familiarity with automated test systems, data collection tools, and scripting for test automation.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in both hardware and test setups.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical issues clearly to cross-functional teams.

Success Criteria

  • Maintains high uptime and calibration compliance of all test equipment.
  • Executes test campaigns accurately and efficiently, with high-quality data output.
  • Identifies issues early, collaborates effectively with engineering teams, and provides clear and actionable feedback.
  • Produces thorough, accurate test reports reflecting test conditions and unit performance.
