RF Engineer

Location: Rolling Meadows, Illinois (Partial Remote)

Employment Type: Contract

 

Role Overview

This position supports the RF Design team in Chicago, IL, and is responsible for various project-based tasks. The role involves working on traditional macro sites, small cells, relocations, temporary sites, and other modification projects. The tasks span the entire project lifecycle, from site review and design through regulatory processes, technical documentation, and in-service deployment. This role requires close collaboration with the Real Estate team and other RF engineers.

 

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage project tasks related to macro sites, small cells, and modification projects.
  • Follow projects from initial site review and design to regulatory and technical documentation.
  • Ensure projects are completed through the in-service phase.
  • Collaborate with the geographically responsible Real Estate team and RF engineers.
  • Perform virtual or remote site reviews.
  • Work on a hybrid schedule, with specified days in the office and field visits as needed.
Required Qualifications

Education: Completed higher education is required. A four-year degree is preferred.

 

Required Skills:

  • General familiarity with the overall cell build process.
  • Knowledge of how to read ZD/CDs.
  • Attention to detail for regulatory and technical documentation.
  • Understanding of basic RF concepts and antenna theory.
  • Knowledge of RF propagation and project management tools.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Recent experience with a telecom carrier.
  • Experience with tools such as Atoll and Fuze SPM/RFDS/CQ.
  • Knowledge of the Chicago market.

 

Work Environment

The standard work schedule is an 8 AM to 5 PM, 40-hour workweek, with some overtime as required. The majority of site reviews are conducted virtually or remotely. The role requires working in the office on a hybrid schedule (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday) and performing field visits as needed.

 

Compensation & Benefits

The compensation for this position ranges from $55.00 to $60.00 per hour.
