Role Overview

This position requires a skilled Mobile Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) with expertise in either Android or iOS platforms. The role involves designing, implementing, and maintaining robust automation frameworks to ensure the quality of mobile applications. The ideal candidate will define test strategies, integrate tests into CI/CD pipelines, and collaborate with development teams to resolve issues.

 
Key Responsibilities (Android)
  • Design, implement, and maintain Android automation using Espresso, UI Automator, and Jetpack.
  • Build reusable test frameworks and libraries in Kotlin using AndroidX Test, JUnit, and Gradle.
  • Define test strategy, coverage goals, and quality metrics; create and maintain test plans and risk assessments.
  • Integrate tests into CI/CD pipelines such as Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions.
  • Implement and maintain integration and end-to-end tests across the mobile stack.
  • Triage failures, debug with Android Studio, and partner with developers to resolve issues.
  • Participate in code reviews and advocate for testability.
Required Qualifications (Android)
  • 3–6+ years in Android test automation or SDET roles with strong Kotlin and Android SDK fundamentals.
  • Hands-on expertise with Espresso, UI Automator, and Jetpack/Compose testing frameworks.
  • Knowledge of AndroidX Test, JUnit 4/5, test orchestrator, Gradle, and build variants.
  • Experience building CI/CD for mobile tests (e.g., GitHub Actions, Jenkins).
  • Experience with device farms (e.g., Sauce Labs, AWS Device Farm, BrowserStack).
  • Proficiency with network mocking, data seeding, and hermetic testing strategies.
  • Understanding of Android app architecture (MVVM/MVI), coroutines/Flows, and dependency injection (Hilt/Dagger).
 
Key Responsibilities (iOS)
  • Design, implement, and maintain iOS automation using XCUITest/XCTest.
  • Build reusable test utilities and abstractions in Swift.
  • Establish test strategy, coverage goals, and quality metrics; create and maintain test plans.
  • Integrate tests into CI/CD using xcodebuild, fastlane, and parallel simulator execution.
  • Implement and maintain integration and end-to-end tests across the stack.
  • Triage failures and debug with Xcode, Console.app, and device logs.
  • Participate in code reviews and advocate for testability through protocols and dependency injection.
Required Qualifications (iOS)
  • 3–6+ years in iOS test automation or SDET roles with strong Swift and iOS SDK fundamentals.
  • Hands-on expertise with XCTest and XCUITest, with experience testing SwiftUI and UIKit apps.
  • Proficient in building test frameworks and using Xcode test plans, schemes, and build configurations.
  • Experience with CI/CD for iOS (xcodebuild, fastlane, code signing).
  • Experience with device farms (e.g., Sauce Labs, AWS Device Farm, BrowserStack).
  • API contract testing and MockWebServer usage experience.
  • Understanding of iOS app architecture (MVC/MVVM/MVI), async/await, Combine, and dependency injection.
