Apex Systems is seeking a Senior Network Engineer to support a major local entertainment company in the Greater Richmond region. This role focuses on the design, implementation, and ongoing operational support of network infrastructure across a multi-site environment.

Position Overview

The Senior Network Engineer will be responsible for planning, designing, and maintaining enterprise network systems, including LAN, WAN, wireless networks, and internet connectivity. This individual will play a key role in ensuring the performance, security, and reliability of the organization’s network infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, implement, and support enterprise network infrastructure across multiple locations
  • Provide ongoing maintenance, enhancements, and operational support for network systems
  • Serve as a primary escalation point for network-related issues and tickets
  • Collaborate with internal teams to maintain connectivity across remote offices and systems
  • Monitor network performance and respond proactively to alerts and incidents
  • Configure and maintain firewalls, access control lists (ACLs), and IDS/IPS systems
  • Maintain and troubleshoot enterprise wireless networks, including 802.1X and RADIUS authentication
  • Support light Windows and Linux server troubleshooting
  • Develop and maintain QoS (Quality of Service) policies
  • Participate in an on-call rotation and provide after-hours support as needed
  • Create and maintain network documentation, diagrams, and procedures
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior engineers and help desk staff
Qualifications
  • 7–10 years of experience supporting enterprise network environments
  • CCNA required; CCNP preferred
  • Strong experience with network troubleshooting and performance optimization
  • Experience with network monitoring tools such as SolarWinds and Wireshark
  • Knowledge of network security standards (PCI, HIPAA, FIPS preferred)
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
  • Ability to work both independently and in a collaborative team environment
Preferred Experience
  • Experience with cloud environments (Azure preferred)
  • Hands-on experience with Palo Alto or other firewall platforms
  • Experience with multicast routing
