Apex Systems is a global IT services provider and our consulting practice has an opening for a Data Reporting Analyst with strong analytical, communication skills and attention to detail to place at our client, a Big Five Bank for an important and growing project.
Client: Big Five Bank – Data Reporting
Terms: 6 month rolling contract.

A large enterprise organization is building a centralized Data Hub to enable enterprise reporting and self-service analytics.
This role will focus on delivering reporting solutions, semantic data models, and business insights, while supporting a transition toward a self-service analytics model across business units.
The organization operates in a decentralized BI tooling environment, with teams leveraging a mix of Tableau, Power BI, and Excel.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain dashboards, reports, and data models for business stakeholders
- Build semantic data models within the data warehouse (PostgreSQL / Snowflake)
- Emphasis on modeling within the data layer rather than only in BI tools
- Create and optimize:
- Views
- Data structures
- Business logic for reporting
- Collaborate with stakeholders to:
- Refine requirements
- Iterate on reporting solutions
- Translate business needs into actionable insights
- Support the transition to self-service analytics, including:
- Providing guidance and best practices to business users
- Assisting with troubleshooting and escalations
- Perform data manipulation within BI tools:
- DAX (Power BI)
- Calculated fields (Tableau)
- Contribute to data visualization and storytelling best practices
- Advise on effective presentation of insights
- Support business-led report design and UX decisions
Technical Requirements
- Strong SQL skills
- Experience developing dashboards using:
- Tableau and Power BI (preferred both)
- Preference hierarchy: Both > Tableau only > Power BI only
- Experience with semantic data modeling within a data warehouse
- Not limited to BI-layer modeling
- Hands-on experience with:
- DAX
- Calculated fields
- Data transformation within BI tools
- Familiarity with PostgreSQL and/or Snowflake (preferred)
Soft Skills & Profile
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities across business units
- Patient and collaborative, with a focus on enabling business users
- Naturally curious and eager to learn
- Passion for data storytelling and analytics enablement
- Comfortable working in an environment evolving toward self-service and ad-hoc analytics
