Position: Lead Oracle and Cloud Engineer
Location: Charlotte, NC - onsite 4 days, remote 1 day
Duration: 12+ month contract with likelihood to extend or convert
The Cloud & Oracle Platform Strategy Lead is a senior engineering leader responsible for defining and driving enterprise-wide strategy across Oracle platforms and multi-cloud environments. This role serves as the primary escalation point for complex Oracle-related issues while establishing standards, governance, and best practices across both public and private cloud infrastructures. The Lead Engineer will build and execute a forward-looking 3–5 year technology roadmap, ensuring Oracle platforms and cloud strategies align with business objectives. This position also evaluates emerging technologies—including AI/ML and agentic AI—to identify innovation opportunities and practical applications. The ideal candidate will combine deep Oracle expertise with strong cloud engineering experience and the ability to communicate effectively across technical and business stakeholders.
- Define and maintain enterprise standards for Oracle platforms across hybrid and multi-cloud environments (AWS, GCP, and private cloud)
- Develop and execute a 3–5 year roadmap for Oracle and cloud platform evolution
- Evaluate new Oracle products, releases, and cloud-native capabilities for adoption and optimization
- Identify opportunities to leverage emerging technologies (e.g., AI/ML, agentic AI) within the platform ecosystem
- Lead planning, design, and implementation of Oracle workloads in cloud environments (AWS, GCP)
- Ensure scalable, secure, and highly available architecture across multi-cloud deployments
- Drive best practices for database management, cloud infrastructure, and automation
- Support both relational (Oracle DB) and NoSQL data platforms within cloud architectures
- Act as the primary escalation point for all Oracle-related incidents and complex technical challenges
- Oversee platform performance, reliability, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Collaborate with infrastructure, DevOps, and application teams to ensure seamless integration and delivery
- Establish governance, compliance, and risk management standards across Oracle and cloud environments
- Partner with business and technology leaders to align platform strategy with organizational goals
- Communicate complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences
- Influence decision-making through architectural guidance, data-driven insights, and strategic recommendations
- Strong experience with Oracle Database technologies (administration, architecture, performance tuning)
- Experience with NoSQL databases and distributed data systems
- Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS and/or GCP preferred)
- Proven ability to design and support multi-cloud or hybrid cloud architectures
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Experience leading platform strategy, engineering initiatives, or large-scale infrastructure environments
