Application Support Analyst

Location: Toronto, ON (Hybrid)

Work Schedule: 37.5 hours/week, Monday–Friday (9:00 AM – 5:00 PM)

Start Date: ASAP

Duration: 4-month contract-to-hire (candidates must be open to full-time conversion)

Interview Process: 1 virtual + 1 in-person interview

Overview

Our client is seeking an experienced Application Support Analyst to join their Global Wires & Payments Technology team. This role will support and enhance a Tier 1 critical payments application, offering strong exposure to the end-to-end payments ecosystem.

This is a hands-on role combining production support and project work, with participation in an on-call support rotation (1 week per month).

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide application support for a Tier 1 critical payments platform
  • Participate in incident and problem management, driving resolution and root cause analysis
  • Support ongoing application development and enhancements
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure system stability and performance
  • Contribute to deployment, monitoring, and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Participate in a monthly support rotation
Must-Have Skills & Experience
  • 5+ years of experience in software development and/or production support
  • Strong understanding of incident and problem management processes
  • Hands-on experience with:
    • Red Hat Linux
    • IBM MQ and/or Kafka
    • SQL / Oracle databases
  • Experience with web technologies:
    • Java, Spring Boot, Node.js
  • Knowledge of microservices architecture and containerization:
    • OpenShift, Kubernetes, Docker, Helm
  • 2+ years of payments domain experience
Nice-to-Have Skills
  • Prior experience in banking or financial services
  • Experience supporting Tier 1 / mission-critical applications
  • Familiarity with change management processes
  • Understanding of SDLC and Agile delivery models
  • Experience with infrastructure or application upgrade projects (CCR)
  • Experience with monitoring tools (e.g., Dynatrace)
  • Exposure to:
    • File transfer and scheduling tools (e.g., Autosys)
    • DevOps and CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, Artifactory, GitHub Actions)
  • Knowledge of security and resiliency best practices
  • Experience supporting disaster recovery (DR) exercises
  • Understanding of audit and regulatory requirements
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills
