AI Engineer

Job#: 3034721

Job Description:

AI Engineer

Location: Greenwood Village, Colorado (Onsite 4 days a week)

Role Overview

We are seeking an AI-focused Software Engineer to design, build, and deploy AI-powered tools and workflows. This is a hands-on engineering role focused on building practical solutions to enhance team effectiveness. You will work to understand workflows, identify automation opportunities, and deliver tools that reduce manual effort. This role combines software engineering and applied AI, involving the development of AI agents, MCP servers, and context-aware tooling to support ETL development, reporting, analytics, and testing.

Manager Notes/Main Focus:

  • Understands that nobody is an AI expert yet and finding the right person is nuanced, the job description includes a lot of AI techniques and concepts, but not all are required.
  • They do need hands-on Engineers with Software Development backgrounds to develop production AI systems.
  • Cannot be experimentation only, Data Science folks working in notebooks and developing only POCs. The production experience and Software fundamentals are critical to the role.
  • Mentioned that MCP server experience is limited in the market - if they have familiarity in MCP, with experience in broader integrations or CLI-based extensions to connect to external sources, that is okay.
  • LLMs, RAG, agents and agent orchestration (LangChain, Crew AI, etc.)
  • Software development skills - UIs with React/Typescript, Node.js, Python - she was not sure if both Node.js and Python were being used on the API side. Often times these products use Python/FastAPI.
  • Experience in AWS - i.e. S3, EC2, EMR, Lambdas, Athena
  • Containerization, CI/CD desired.
  • Believes the depth of data processing will happen further down the stream and will be more flexible on that.
  • Kiro is nice to have - Kiro is the core tool/wrapper. Onboarding new tools, MCPs, integration points.
  • ~3 years of experience for both would be ideal.
Key Responsibilities
  • Eliminate manual bottlenecks across reporting, tagging, and testing workflows.
  • Build AI agents that assist at each stage of the development lifecycle, from requirements through deployment.
  • Automate repetitive tasks in analytics, data validation, job monitoring, and reporting.
  • Develop and maintain MCP servers to connect AI tools with the data ecosystem.
  • Integrate AI tooling with existing platforms like Jira, Confluence, Gitlab, Athena, and Tableau.
  • Develop internal tools and applications using technologies such as TypeScript, React, Node.js, and Python.
  • Develop APIs and backend services to power AI agent workflows.
  • Write clean, tested, and documented code, setting new engineering standards for the team.
  • Work within AWS infrastructure (Athena, EMR, S3, Lambda) and integrate with the existing data stack.
Required Qualifications
  • Approximately 3 years of software engineering experience with production applications (TypeScript/JavaScript, Python, or similar).
  • An active AWS certification and demonstrated knowledge of AWS services, including S3, EC2, EMR, Lambda, and Athena.
  • Hands-on experience building with LLMs, including prompt engineering, agent frameworks (like LangChain or Crew AI), tool-use patterns, or RAG systems.
  • Experience with SQL and data platforms such as Athena or Spark.
  • Strong software debugging skills, with the ability to diagnose issues across distributed systems and data pipelines.
  • Ability to design thorough test cases and support reliability testing.
  • Ability to translate non-technical team needs into working software.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience building knowledge graphs, context graphs, or semantic layers for enterprise data.
  • Familiarity with Tableau, data visualization tools, or BI platform APIs.
  • Background in data engineering or analytics, with an understanding of ETL pipelines and data quality.
  • Experience with CI/CD, Gitlab, and infrastructure-as-code.
  • Familiarity with Jira APIs, Confluence, or project management tool integrations.
  • Experience with job monitoring, log analysis, or operational alerting systems.
  • Familiarity with the Model Context Protocol (MCP) or similar integration patterns.
