Job Description:
Location: Austin, Texas (Onsite)
Employment Type: Contract
We are seeking a Manufacturing Associate for a role supporting physical analysis and chemistry labs that operate 24/7. This position involves monitoring chemical tools and performing routine analytical operations in a high-performing semiconductor manufacturing environment. The role requires working independently with limited day-to-day supervision and managing a queue of chemical requests to ensure laboratory throughput. This is an entry-level, hands-on laboratory position ideal for an early-career professional or recent graduate with foundational chemistry lab experience.
- Perform routine analytical and wet lab operations following established standard operating procedures.
- Handle, transfer, and analyze chemicals, including hazardous materials, with a strong adherence to safety protocols.
- Manage lab workflows and track chemical requests to meet operational demands.
- Prepare samples, standards, and reagents for analysis.
- Operate and maintain analytical instruments to ensure accurate and reliable results.
- Document, review, and validate analytical data to comply with quality assurance standards.
- Rotate between and support two distinct lab environments: a production fab cleanroom and a wet lab.
- Maintain laboratory cleanliness, safety, and organization.
Education: A bachelor's degree in Chemistry or a related scientific discipline is preferred. Equivalent hands-on laboratory experience may be considered.
Experience: 0-4 years of hands-on chemistry lab experience is required. Experience from an academic laboratory setting is acceptable.
Technical Skills:
- Understanding of basic lab fundamentals, including measuring mass and volume, using pipettes, and working with balances.
- Ability to follow established written procedures and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Familiarity with general lab safety protocols and chemical nomenclature.
- Basic data processing skills and understanding of statistics (mean, standard deviation).
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word).
- Exposure to analytical instrumentation such as ICP-MS, ion chromatography, gas chromatography, or auto-titrators.
- Experience with wet chemistry techniques and sample preparation.
- Background in analytical chemistry or quantitative analysis.
- Familiarity with moisture analysis or Karl Fischer titration.
- Work is conducted across two laboratory settings and requires rotation between both.
- One environment is a production fab cleanroom, which requires full gowning (coveralls, booties, hair net).
- The second is a wet lab, which requires standard Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as a lab coat, safety glasses, and chemical-resistant sleeves.
- The role involves daily work with potentially hazardous chemicals, and strict adherence to safety protocols is mandatory.
- Compliance with fab protocols is required, which includes restrictions on makeup, perfume, and jewelry.
The pay rate for this position ranges from $20.00 to $22.00 per hour. A comprehensive benefits package is available to eligible employees.
