Job Description:
Location: Foster City, California (Onsite)
As an Electrical Engineer on the Infotainment and Connectivity Hardware team, you will be responsible for the development of key human-machine interfaces (HMI) that users utilize to interact with the vehicle. This includes hardware for user authentication, ingress access, communication, and cabin/occupant monitoring. This cross-functional role requires developing requirements, solving design problems, creating and testing prototypes, and coordinating projects to meet company milestones.
- Investigate issues to resolve problems, drive design updates, and enable scaling.
- Specify electrical component and system requirements and lead engineering discussions and development with suppliers, including drawing reviews and requirement validation.
- Coordinate supplier tooling and production to meet critical vehicle milestones.
- Collaborate with mechanical, systems, firmware, and software engineering teams, as well as system operators, to iterate on existing designs and develop future solutions.
- Conduct root cause analysis during development, validation, build, and deployment phases.
- Support the development and execution of system and component-level validation test plans.
- Work with manufacturing and quality engineers to mature components and support vehicle build, bring-up, and test activities.
Education: A Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering, or an equivalent field, is required.
Experience: Candidates must have 5-10 years of experience in electrical component or system design and troubleshooting. Experience taking a part or assembly from concept through production, working with external suppliers, and managing deliverables for multiple projects is also required.
Technical Skills: Experience with automotive (CAN bus, automotive Ethernet, A2B), aerospace, or safety-critical industries is necessary. Proficiency with on-board digital serial interfaces such as SPI, UART, I2C, and I2S, as well as experience with electrical and EMI/C testing, is required.
- Knowledge of automotive functional safety (ISO26262) standards.
- Firmware or software experience, including functional knowledge of Python, C/C++, and other scripting languages.
- Experience with chassis and/or electromechanical systems.
- Experience with high-speed bus protocols such as PCIe, Display Port, and HDMI.
- Experience using Altium, 3DX, Catia V5/V6, or similar tools.
