Job Title: Data Platform Engineer (Kubernetes / OpenShift)
Location: Charlotte, NC – Hybrid (3 days onsite)
Contract Length: 12 months (likely extension to 24 months; possible conversion)
Pay Rate: $67 - $72

We are seeking a highly skilled Data Platform Engineer to support the buildout and enablement of a large-scale data private cloud platform. This platform will support over 70 tenants and is a critical component of a broader data center migration initiative. This role will focus on core platform engineering while also supporting tenant enablement, observability, and security controls to ensure the environment is scalable, secure, and production-ready.
- Design and build scalable private cloud data platforms using Kubernetes and OpenShift.
- Configure compute, storage, and networking layers, and integrate object storage and execution engines.
- Support platform buildout for enterprise data center migration initiatives.
- Enable onboarding and support for over 70 tenant applications in a multi-tenant environment.
- Define access models, resource allocation, and environment configuration for tenants.
- Design and implement observability frameworks, including monitoring, alerting, and dashboards.
- Develop automation solutions using Terraform, Helm, and GitOps practices.
- Implement and enforce platform-level security, compliance, and governance controls.
- Collaborate with networking, infrastructure, and security teams to support platform delivery.
- 5+ years of Software Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work or consulting experience, training, military experience, or education.
- Strong experience with Kubernetes (OpenShift preferred) and Linux system engineering.
- Experience building enterprise platforms from the ground up, including multi-tenant environments.
- Strong background in observability (e.g., Grafana, Prometheus) and automation (e.g., Terraform, Helm, GitOps).
- Hands-on experience with tools such as Grafana, Prometheus, BigPanda, PagerDuty, or ThousandEyes.
- Experience with GitOps practices, preferably with Argo CD.
- Experience using ServiceNow.
- Experience with data platform technologies such as Spark, Trino, Iceberg, or Hive.
- Experience with object storage and metadata lineage tools like Datahub.
- Knowledge of networking concepts including load balancing, traffic routing, segmentation, and ingress/egress control.
- Experience with OpenShift ingress and egress control, and network policies.
