Business Systems Analyst

Client: Top 5 Bank

Duration: 6 month contract with strong liklihood of extension or conversion

Work Location: Hybrid - 1 day per week onsite (Mondays)

Hours: 37.5 hr/week; Monday-Friday, 9:00 am - 5:00 pm.

Location: Toronto, Ontario (Hybrid)

 

Role Overview

The main function of a Business Systems Analyst is to analyze business, data, and system requirements to support electronic data processing solutions. This role is responsible for evaluating user requirements, identifying system limitations, and recommending enhancements to improve workflows, automation, and overall system performance within an equity trading environment.

 

Key Responsibilities
  • Analyze user requirements, procedures, and problems to automate or improve existing systems.
  • Review and evaluate computer system capabilities, workflow, and scheduling limitations.
  • Gather and document business and functional requirements.
  • Conduct data analysis to support system and process improvements.
  • Collaborate with business and technology stakeholders.
  • Assist in system testing, validation, and the implementation of enhancements.
  • Identify and troubleshoot issues related to trade processing and data workflows.
Required Qualifications
  • Experience in data analysis.
  • Working knowledge of the equity trading life cycle and trade messaging.
  • Experience with SQL, including the ability to write queries involving joins and filters.
  • Working knowledge of FIX messages and specifications.
  • Demonstrated strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Organization and time management skills.
  • Effective collaboration and communication skills.
  • Attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Familiarity with Databricks.
  • Familiarity with AI agents.
  • Experience within equity markets environments at large financial institutions.
Work Environment

This position follows a hybrid model, requiring one day per week in the office. The role is part of a larger team and will support a subset of a broader project group, involving collaboration with multiple stakeholders.
