Location: Austin, Texas (Onsite)
We are seeking a Staff Engineer to lead the architecture, reliability, and operational excellence of our backend systems and platform services. This role is central to defining technical direction, ensuring system scalability, and mentoring engineers. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in backend engineering, DevOps, and operating large-scale production systems.
- Define and lead the architecture for scalable backend systems and platform services.
- Design and evolve distributed systems and microservices architectures.
- Own the end-to-end reliability of production systems, including availability, performance, and scalability.
- Lead incident management, root cause analysis, and long-term reliability improvements.
- Establish best practices for CI/CD, infrastructure as code, and release engineering.
- Drive DevOps transformation through automation and deployment reliability.
- Define and implement observability standards across systems, including logging, metrics, tracing, and alerting.
- Mentor engineers and elevate technical standards across the organization.
Experience: 8+ years of experience in backend engineering, platform engineering, or DevOps. Proven experience designing, owning, and operating distributed systems at scale.
Technical Skills: Strong backend engineering expertise in Java or Python. Deep hands-on experience with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines. Solid cloud platform experience (Azure preferred) and familiarity with observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, or the ELK stack.
