Job Description:
Apex Systems is looking to hire an ONSITE Operational Buyer for our client based out of Greensboro, NC.
This assignment is anticipated to be a 12‑month contract with strong potential for extension; however, Apex Systems cannot guarantee the length of this assignment.
This will also have a first‑shift Monday–Friday schedule.
Responsibilities:
- Manage procurement activities across a broad range of goods and services supporting both operational and production environments.
- Lead sourcing efforts including supplier identification, evaluation, and selection based on cost, quality, and performance requirements.
- Negotiate pricing, contract terms, and service agreements to optimize cost efficiency and supplier value.
- Monitor and continually evaluate supplier performance, identifying opportunities for improvement and cost reduction.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand business needs and align procurement strategies with operational goals.
- Manage procurement projects and initiatives, driving execution from sourcing through supplier onboarding and performance tracking.
- Support lifecycle management of supplier relationships, including performance reviews and corrective action follow‑up.
- Ensure procurement activities comply with internal policies, processes, and quality standards.
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance procurement efficiency, cost savings, and supplier performance.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior team members as needed.
Experience:
- 5+ years of experience in procurement, sourcing, supply chain, or a related function.
- Experience managing purchasing activities across both operational (indirect) and production‑related (direct) categories.
- Strong negotiation skills with experience managing pricing, contracts, and supplier agreements.
- Ability to manage complex procurement processes and projects independently.
- Experience evaluating supplier performance and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with the ability to address moderately complex challenges.
- Effective communication skills with the ability to collaborate across cross‑functional teams.
- Experience working with minimal supervision while driving results and meeting business objectives.
