AI Platform Engineer

Location: REMOTE

 

Role Overview

We are hiring a Platform Engineer to build and operate the infrastructure, orchestration, integrations, and guardrails that enable conversational, agentic, and automation AI systems to run securely, reliably, and at scale in a healthcare environment. This is a foundational role within a small, high-impact AI pod. The individual will build the platform capabilities needed to productionize AI solutions and will also serve as a technical leader and mentor.

 

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and build infrastructure for conversational AI systems, agentic workflows, automation pipelines, and real-time systems.
  • Develop scalable and reliable systems for deploying AI applications.
  • Build and manage orchestration layers for multi-step AI workflows, agent execution, and asynchronous processing.
  • Design and implement secure integrations across enterprise systems, external services, and internal APIs.
  • Build and enforce system-level guardrails, including input/output validation and secure execution environments.
  • Ensure systems meet data privacy requirements and internal governance standards, enabling auditability and traceability.
  • Implement logging, monitoring, and alerting for AI interactions, workflow execution, and system performance.
  • Support data ingestion and processing pipelines for AI systems, including managing infrastructure for document storage and vector databases.
  • Act as a role model for engineering best practices, mentoring developers in backend engineering and AI system infrastructure.
Required Qualifications

Experience:

  • Strong experience in backend or platform engineering.
  • Proven experience building production-grade distributed systems.
  • Experience designing and implementing APIs, microservices, asynchronous or event-driven systems, and workflow orchestration systems.
  • Experience integrating enterprise systems and external APIs/services.
  • Experience supporting or working with AI/ML systems in production.
  • Experience working in healthcare or other regulated environments.

Technical Skills:

  • Strong programming skills in Python, Java, or similar languages.
  • Familiarity with LLM-based applications, multi-step AI workflows or agent systems, and RAG or data-driven AI pipelines.
  • Strong understanding of data privacy requirements and building compliant, auditable systems.

 

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with cloud platforms, with Azure being preferred.
  • Experience with observability and monitoring tools and distributed system design patterns.
  • Familiarity with vector databases, streaming or real-time systems, and AI orchestration frameworks.
