Campaign Operations Specialist

Job#: 3037188

Job Description:

Campaign Operations Specialist

Location: Warren, Michigan (Onsite hybrid)

Role Overview

This position is for a Campaign Operations Specialist who will design, build, and operate the core omni-channel notification platform capabilities. These capabilities power high-volume, real-time customer and dealer communications across channels including email, SMS, push, and in-app notifications, with a primary focus on mobile and push activation. The role ensures the platform and its related workflows are reliable, scalable, and compliant, enabling teams to deliver targeted messages effectively. Initially, the position will focus on executing mobile marketing campaigns, and will later transition to day-to-day campaign execution, optimization, and governance using Adobe Journey Optimizer (AJO).

Key Responsibilities
  • Partner with software engineers to execute backend services and APIs for mobile and push notification creation, orchestration, sending, and tracking.
  • Support integration with email, SMS, push, and in-app providers, with an emphasis on mobile and push channels.
  • Contribute to defining and monitoring service level objectives and error budgets for critical notification services.
  • Work with data engineering and activation teams to consume customer and event data for targeting and personalization of mobile and push campaigns.
  • Help implement guardrails for consent, opt-in/opt-out, and channel-level preferences in line with regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with product managers, marketing activation, and mobile teams to translate business requirements into scalable technical designs.
  • Serve as a bridge between Engineering and CE Activation, documenting best practices for campaign setup, launch, and optimization.
  • Post-transition, own end-to-end mobile and push campaign execution in AJO, from configuration through launch and monitoring.
Required Qualifications

Education: A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Marketing Technology, Data/Analytics, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience is required.

Experience: This role requires 3–7+ years of experience in software or platform engineering focused on backend or notification systems, or in marketing technology and campaign operations roles working closely with engineering. Experience with distributed systems and event-driven architectures (e.g., Kafka, Kinesis) is necessary. Hands-on experience with Enterprise Decision Management/PEGA systems is critical.

Technical Skills: Candidates must have proficiency in one or more modern backend languages (e.g., Java, Kotlin, C#, Go, Python, Node.js) or possess strong technical fluency working with engineering teams. A working understanding of REST API-based integration is essential. Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and datastores (relational, NoSQL) is required. Proficiency with Adobe Experience Platform and Adobe Journey Optimizer (AJO) or similar tools is also needed.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with notification and engagement solutions such as Twilio, SendGrid, Braze, or Iterable.
  • Strong experience working with PEGA-based systems.
  • Experience implementing preference centers, consent management, and suppression logic.
  • A background in environments with cross-functional stakeholders including product, marketing, legal, and engineering teams.
