Senior Technology Risk Consultant

Everforth - Apex Systems is a global IT services provider, and our Staffing  practice has an opening in the Financial Industry for a Senior Technology Risk Consultant with strong experience in in Risk and Audit as well as a tech ology background to place at our client, a large Canadian Bank.

Start date: ASAP

Location: Toronto, ON (Hybrid)

Schedule: Onsite every Tuesday + one Friday/month

Duration: Contract 6 months rolling

Overview

Apex Systems is seeking a Technology Risk Consultant

to join a high-performing team supporting infrastructure, operations, and network risk management at a leading Canadian bank.

This team is responsible for audits, deficiencies, and risk-related initiatives across the infrastructure organization. The work is highly ad hoc and fast-paced, requiring a candidate who can quickly step into varying priorities—from audit support to remediation and control-related activities.

This is an ideal opportunity for a candidate who thrives in unstructured environments, enjoys problem-solving, and can effectively bridge technical and audit/compliance teams.


Key Responsibilities

·      Act as a central liaison between audit teams and technical SMEs (infrastructure, network, operations)

·      Support audit activities, including walkthroughs, evidence gathering, and audit response coordination

·      Assist with deficiency management and remediation tracking

·      Participate in control-related work (design understanding, audit support—not hands-on testing)

·      Facilitate meetings between stakeholders to ensure timely audit responses and issue resolution

·      Translate complex technical inputs into clear, audit-ready documentation

·      Manage and prioritize multiple concurrent requests across audits, risks, and compliance deliverables

·      Maintain and update records in EGRC (Governance, Risk & Compliance tool)


Required Qualifications

·      5–7+ years of experience in risk, compliance, or audit within enterprise environments

·      Experience supporting technology or infrastructure teams

·      Strong understanding of risk frameworks such as NIST, COBIT, ISO, or similar

·      Ability to understand and communicate technical concepts (infrastructure, networking, ITIL processes)

·      Proven experience managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced, ad hoc environment

·      Excellent verbal and written communication skills (critical requirement)

·      Strong organizational and time management skills


Technical & Domain Exposure

·      Infrastructure domains such as:

o  Network operations

o  ITIL (incident, change, problem management)

o  Patch management

o  Scheduling tools (e.g., AutoSys)

o  Data feeds / integration platforms

·      Familiarity with audit processes, controls, and governance structures

·      Experience working with internal stakeholders (technology, InfoSec, audit, risk)


Nice-to-Have

·      Banking or financial services experience

·      Experience supporting regulatory audits (e.g., DORA or similar frameworks)

·      Prior experience working in large, highly regulated enterprise environments


What Success Looks Like

·      Ability to quickly step into new audit or risk requests with minimal ramp-up

·      Clear, concise communication between technical teams and audit stakeholders

·      Effective handling of multiple high-priority workstreams simultaneously

·      Strong stakeholder trust and consistent delivery of audit-ready outputs


Team & Environment

·      Team of ~5–6 supporting enterprise infrastructure risk

·      Work is primarily conducted via calls, meetings, and stakeholder coordination

·      Highly collaborative and dynamic environment with shifting priorities


Interview Process

·      2 rounds (both in-person):

1.    Hiring Manager interview

2.    Panel interview with team members

·      Strong communicator who can translate technical detail into business/audit language

·      Highly organized, detail-oriented, and adaptable



Apex pay scales are determined by role, experience, skill set, and location. For this new position, the estimated hourly range is provided below as a guideline; however, total compensation may vary based on individual circumstances.

·      Hourly Range: $40.00-$50.00/hr.
