Data Entry Specialist

Location: Onsite in Des Moines, Iowa, or Portland, Maine, 4 days/week - 1 day remote


6-month contract to hire


Pay Rate: $20/hour with a $47,000 conversion salary


This role focuses on rating and processing commercial insurance policies, working closely with underwriting to ensure accuracy and efficiency. Role Overview

This role is responsible for the accurate and timely rating and issuance of commercial insurance lines, including Workers’ Compensation, Automobile, Property, General Liability, and Umbrella. The position involves using both manual and automated methods to process transactions. You will work with various parties and follow established workflows to meet service level standards.

 

Key Responsibilities
  • Participate in a training program to learn the primary aspects of rating property and casualty insurance.
  • Adhere to written authority levels and refer items that exceed authority.
  • Rate and issue policies for all commercial lines of business using both manual and automated methods.
  • Perform basic rating functions, including processing endorsements, new business, renewals, and cancellations under direct supervision.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of all software applications that support the rating role.
  • Interpret instructions from underwriting and other parties to handle all transactions accurately.
  • Provide a high level of customer service and achieve departmental service level standards.
  • Use rating and procedure manuals to accurately classify, rate, and process policies.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of processes and procedures.
  • Participate in projects as assigned.
Required Qualifications

An individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below represent the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

 

Education and/or Experience: A bachelor’s degree is preferred. Alternatively, six months to one-year of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, is required.
