Location: Berkeley, Missouri (Onsite)
Our organization is seeking a Project Engineer to support the Component Engineering (CE) Team. This role focuses on Diminishing Manufacturing Sources and Material Shortages (DMSMS) for various production programs. The position involves working with industry experts on both legacy and future aerospace technologies.
- Apply engineering knowledge of electrical and electronic components to evaluate alternate replacements for obsolete parts.
- Conduct proactive obsolescence forecasting and monitoring using component surveillance tools and predictive systems.
- Develop obsolescence mitigation possibilities and create business case analyses to support resolution options.
- Prepare customer contractual deliverable plans and required reports.
- Support project management of obsolescence mitigation processes within product and program teams.
- Utilize understanding of aircraft and weapons design to recommend new and alternate electrical components.
- Assist programs in identifying and mitigating obsolescence risk.
- Provide engineering leadership to a team representing multiple skill areas.
- Respond to changes in the statement of work, assess impacts, and negotiate proposed modifications.
- Support proposal development, estimation, and lead project execution.
- Plan, identify, and coordinate resources required over the life of the project.
- Define plans for risk mitigation and opportunity, comparing actual results to the baseline plan to assess performance.
Education: An advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics, or chemistry (e.g., Bachelor’s Degree) is required. An equivalent combination of technical education and experience is also acceptable (e.g., Master’s Degree with 7+ years of experience or a PhD with 4+ years of experience).
Experience: Ten or more years of experience in managing obsolescence management projects is required.
Technical Skills: Candidates must be knowledgeable of basic electronic components (resistors, capacitors, diodes, etc.) and how to research alternates using data sheets and other resources. A strong ability to work as part of a team and familiarity with working within a hierarchical organization are necessary. Good writing and communication skills, along with attention to detail, are required. An understanding of obsolete parts and the process of evaluating alternate parts is essential.
