IT Controls Analyst / IT Audit Technical Specialist
Large Aerospace & Defense Client
Duration: 6-12+ months
100% Remote
Overview:
We are seeking a hands-on IT Controls Analyst/Audit Technical Specialist to support execution and optimization of IT control processes. This individual will work under the guidance of the IT Controls Lead to implement improvements, streamline processes, and enhance the efficiency and consistency of control execution. This is a technical “doer” role, focused on translating direction into action and delivering measurable improvements.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute and support IT control activities in alignment with defined processes and standards
- Partner with the IT Controls Lead to implement process improvements and optimizations
- Analyze existing workflows and identify opportunities to:
- Reduce manual effort
- Improve consistency and repeatability
- Enhance audit evidence quality
- Support automation initiatives, including:
- Scripting (PowerShell, Bash, database queries)
- Log parsing and data extraction
- API-based integrations where applicable
- Assist in standardizing documentation and evidence capture across controls
- Develop and maintain:
- Scripts and automation tools (in dev/test environments)
- Process documentation and job aids
- Support migration of control activities to enterprise tools (e.g., identity/access platforms, GRC tools)
- Collaborate closely with stakeholders to ensure solutions are practical and sustainable
Required Qualifications
- 5–7+ years of experience in IT operations, systems administration, or IT controls execution
- Strong technical skills in:
- Scripting (PowerShell, Bash)
- Working with logs, APIs, and data extraction
- Server (Windows/Linux) and/or database environments (Oracle, SQL Server)
- Understanding of:
- IT processes and system workflows
- Basic IT audit / controls concepts
- Ability to:
- Take direction and independently execute
- Translate requirements into technical solutions
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting IT audit or compliance initiatives
- Familiarity with Access Management tools (e.g., SailPoint)
- Familiarity with GRC platforms or control tracking systems
- Experience with automation of audit evidence collection
