SCADA Validation Specialist

Location: Tulsa, Oklahoma (Onsite)

 
Role Overview

This role focuses on providing field device status validations through SCADA and HMI solutions by collaborating with multiple business groups. The position involves highly process-driven, repeatable validation work with a significant emphasis on communication, documentation, and attention to detail. This is a technical coordination role, not a traditional Systems Administrator position involving infrastructure or server management.

 
Key Responsibilities
  • Facilitate Point-to-Point (P2P) validations from SCADA displays through HMI systems to field devices like RTUs and PLCs.
  • Validate that field inputs, such as pressure and volume data, and control outputs are accurately represented within SCADA.
  • Coordinate validation activities directly with field I&E technicians and internal SCADA and operations teams via phone and Microsoft Teams.
  • Compare expected readings with actual field values to identify and document mismatches.
  • Maintain detailed and precise documentation of all validation steps, test results, discrepancies, and resolutions.
  • Identify, document, and escalate any data discrepancies, communication failures, or configuration errors discovered during testing.
  • Ensure all validations meet Control Room Management requirements and internal operating guidelines before assets are placed into service.
  • Support continuous improvement by providing feedback on validation processes and system configurations.
Required Qualifications
  • Demonstrated technical aptitude and the ability to learn new systems quickly through a provided training program.
  • Ability to work through structured, high-volume, and repetitive validation processes with consistency.
  • Effective communication skills for coordinating with technical and operational field personnel.
  • Strong documentation and note-taking skills with a high degree of attention to detail.
  • A self-starter mentality with the ability to work independently after training.
  • Comfortable making phone calls and working with personnel in remote locations.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Working knowledge of or exposure to SCADA systems and HMI interfaces.
  • Previous experience in Oil & Gas or pipeline environments.
  • Familiarity with field device validation for RTUs or PLCs.
