IT - Information Security/Privacy Analyst I

Location: Rockville, Maryland (Hybrid)

Pay Rate: $25-35 / hr

 

Role Overview

We are seeking an IT Information Security/Privacy Analyst. The successful candidate will be responsible for analyzing and responding to security events and incidents from various security tools and client data sources. This role involves monitoring security systems and ensuring the integrity of the client's information technology environment.

 

Key Responsibilities
  • Analyze and respond to security events and incidents from SIEM, Firewall (FW), Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS), Intrusion Prevention Systems (IPS), Endpoint Security Solutions, and Network Access Control (NAC).
  • Monitor other client data sources for security events.
Required Qualifications

Experience: 1-3 years of experience in a security operations center environment, or a recent college graduate with industry certifications. Must have experience with a variety of operating systems, including Windows, Linux, or UNIX in a functional capacity.

 

Technical Skills: Experience with Splunk or a similar SIEM tool. The role requires excellent written and verbal communication skills to articulate technical details clearly.

 

Preferred Qualifications
  • One or more of the following certifications: CSIS, CEH, CSTA, CSTP, GCFE, CISSP, GCIH, GCIA, GPEN.
  • IDS Log analysis skills.
  • Experience with Packet Capture tools and analysis.
  • Knowledge of well-known protocols and services such as FTP, HTTP, SSH, SMB, and DAP.
Work Environment

This position requires working specific shifts to ensure continuous coverage. The targeted shifts are the second shift (12pm-10pm) or third shift (8pm-6am), depending on staffing needs.
