Location: Pueblo, Colorado (Onsite)
Under periodic supervision, this role involves performing installation, decommissioning, and troubleshooting of network equipment and circuits. The position supports fiber, transport, and infrastructure across a regional territory. Day-to-day work requires independent judgment, hands-on execution, and the ability to operate a full suite of telecom test equipment. On-call rotation, standby, dispatch, and overtime are required based on business need.
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair customer and network issues; remove and replace defective modules; track spare inventory and support repair workflows.
- Install, provision, test, and maintain transport equipment and a range of telecom services.
- Perform site surveys and support full turnup and acceptance processes.
- Manage assets: process deliveries, maintain consumables, and coordinate shipping and receiving.
- Operate fiber optic transmission equipment, multiplexing equipment, circuit termination equipment, and AC/DC power systems.
- Execute preventative and scheduled maintenance on network equipment and supporting infrastructure, including basic HVAC, generator, and power systems.
- High School Diploma or GED, or one year of equivalent field experience in telecom or a related industry.
- Working knowledge of DS1, DS3, SONET, circuit provisioning, maintenance, and testing.
- Experience with telecom test equipment and fiber optic systems.
- Intermediate computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Windows and Office, and the ability to learn internal systems.
- A valid driver's license and the ability to work in all weather conditions.
- Physical requirements include the ability to sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and lift up to 50 lbs.
- 2–5 years of hands-on experience with installation, testing, and turnup of telecom equipment such as SONET, DCS, DWDM, routers, and switches.
- Familiarity with HVAC systems, generators, and power infrastructure.
- Attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to prioritize in a dynamic field environment.
- Sound judgment when supporting both internal teams and external partners.
Candidates must provide their own personal protection equipment (hard hat, boots, safety vest, safety glasses), an iPhone with a charger, and a comprehensive set of telecom tools. This includes various cables (ethernet, console), crimpers, loopbacks for RJ45 and DS3, a fiber scope, fiber cleaning supplies, a power meter, a visual fault locator, and various hand tools such as snips, punch-down tools, lug crimpers, insulated socket sets, screwdrivers, and testers for continuity, voltage, and ohms.
