Job Title: Tier 1 Cybersecurity Analyst (SOC)
Location: 100% Onsite – Southern California
Employment Type: Contract (6-month initial term with potential for extension or conversion, not guaranteed)
Shift: Swing Shift (including weekends; schedule subject to change based on operational needs)
Compensation: $30-$35/hourly
We are seeking an entry-level to junior Tier 1 Cybersecurity Analyst to join a 24/7 Security Operations Center (SOC) environment. This role focuses on monitoring, detecting, and responding to cybersecurity threats across enterprise systems.
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, able to multitask in a fast-paced environment, and has a strong foundation in cybersecurity principles and incident response.
- Monitor security events and alerts across network and system environments
- Investigate and triage potential security incidents
- Analyze alerts from SIEM, email security, and endpoint detection tools
- Support vulnerability management and risk assessment activities
- Document findings and assist in incident reporting
- Follow established SOC standard operating procedures
- Assist in developing automation and improving security processes
- Participate in threat intelligence and metrics reporting
- Review system logs and audit data, ensuring issues are tracked through resolution
- Support implementation of security controls aligned with industry standards
- Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, IT, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 0–2 years of cybersecurity or IT experience (SOC or security-focused role preferred)
- Understanding of the incident response lifecycle (identify, detect, respond, recover)
- Hands-on or academic exposure to SIEM technologies (e.g., Microsoft Sentinel or similar)
- Familiarity with:
- IDS/IPS, Firewalls, Anti-Virus/Anti-Malware tools
- Endpoint Detection & Response (EDR) tools (e.g., CrowdStrike)
- Email security tools (e.g., O365 security, Proofpoint)
- Basic scripting or programming knowledge (Python, JavaScript, or similar)
- Strong analytical and communication skills
- Security+ (or equivalent) strongly preferred
- Other relevant certifications (e.g., GSEC) are a plus
- Ability to work onsite 100%
- Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and some holidays
- Schedule flexibility required due to rotating shifts
- Must be able to pass a comprehensive background screening process
- 24/7 SOC operations center
