AI Quality Engineer
Job#: 3038946
Job Description:
AI Quality Engineer (GenAI / ML / LLMs)
Overview
We are seeking an AI Quality Engineer to ensure the reliability, accuracy, and safety of AI-powered systems, including machine learning models and large language model (LLM) applications.
This role sits at the intersection of Quality Engineering, Data Engineering, and AI/ML, focusing on validating models, testing AI-driven workflows, and ensuring high-quality outputs across production systems. You will partner with engineering, data science, and product teams to embed quality across the entire AI lifecycle—from data to model to user experience.
Key Responsibilities
AI / ML Model Validation
- Design and execute model validation strategies to evaluate:
- Accuracy, precision, recall, and relevance
- Bias, fairness, and ethical risks
- Generalization across datasets and edge cases
- Validate models across offline benchmarks and real-world scenarios
- Define and track AI quality metrics (e.g., hallucination rates, response accuracy, latency)
LLM & Generative AI Testing
- Develop test strategies for LLM-based applications, including:
- Prompt testing and optimization
- Output validation and scoring frameworks
- Guardrail and safety testing
- Build frameworks to evaluate:
- Consistency and determinism
- Relevance and completeness of responses
- Failure modes and edge cases
- Support continuous prompt tuning and evaluation cycle
Data Quality for AI Systems
- Validate training and inference datasets for:
- Completeness, accuracy, and bias
- Feature integrity and drift
- Implement data validation checks across pipelines to ensure model input quality
- Partner with data teams to enforce data quality standards for AI use cases
- Address data issues uncovered during model development (a common blocker to model accuracy)
AI Testing Automation & Frameworks
- Build and maintain automated testing frameworks for AI systems:
- Model regression testing
- Data pipeline validation
- Output comparison and scoring
- Integrate testing into CI/CD and MLOps workflows
- Enable scalable validation across multiple models and use cases
AI Observability & Monitoring
- Implement monitoring for production AI systems:
- Model performance degradation
- Data drift and concept drift
- Latency and system reliability
- Build dashboards and alerts for real-time AI quality tracking
- Support feedback loops and human-in-the-loop validation workflows
AI Governance, Risk & Compliance
- Ensure adherence to Responsible AI practices, including:
- Bias detection and mitigation
- Explainability and transparency
- Regulatory and compliance requirements
- Support implementation of AI governance frameworks and risk controls
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work with:
- Data Scientists to validate model outputs
- Engineers to embed quality into pipelines and services
- Product teams to define acceptance criteria for AI features
- Translate business requirements into testable AI quality metrics
Required Qualifications
- 3–7+ years in Quality Engineering, Data Engineering, or AI/ML validation roles
- Experience testing machine learning models or LLM-based systems
- Strong programming skills in Python and SQL
- Experience with:
- Model evaluation techniques
- Data validation and testing frameworks
- Familiarity with AI/ML lifecycle (training → validation → deployment → monitoring)
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with LLM frameworks (OpenAI, Hugging Face, LangChain, etc.)
- Familiarity with MLOps tools (MLflow, SageMaker, Databricks, etc.)
- Experience testing RAG systems or AI-powered applications
- Knowledge of bias detection, explainability tools (SHAP, LIME)
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS preferred)
Key Competencies
- Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving mindset
- Ability to evaluate non-deterministic systems (AI outputs)
- Deep attention to detail in data and model validation
- Ability to bridge engineering, data science, and business needs
