Role Overview

We are seeking a Senior Project / Program Manager to lead a large-scale on-prem server migration to an AWS initiative. This program includes the migration of approximately 1,400+ servers over a 70-week engagement, executed across 7 structured phases. This individual will be responsible for driving end-to-end delivery, ensuring alignment across infrastructure, application, and business teams, while applying AWS migration best practices—specifically the 7 Rs migration framework.

 

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage a multi-phase enterprise AWS migration program from planning through execution and stabilization.
  • Develop and maintain a master program plan, including timelines, milestones, dependencies, and resource allocation.
  • Oversee multiple parallel project workstreams and ensure alignment with overall program objectives.
  • Drive program governance, including executive reporting, status updates, and risk/issue management.
  • Lead migration strategy using the AWS 7 Rs framework (Rehost, Refactor, Replatform, Relocate, Repurchase, Retire, Retain).
  • Partner with architecture and engineering teams to assess workloads, define migration approaches, and sequence migration waves.
  • Oversee migration waves and factory execution models, ensuring repeatable and scalable delivery.
  • Coordinate across infrastructure, application, security, and business stakeholders.
  • Facilitate migration planning workshops, readiness assessments, and cutover activities.
  • Identify and manage cross-system dependencies across approximately 1,400+ servers.
  • Proactively mitigate risks impacting scope, timeline, or cost and drive structured change management.
  • Track program budget, forecast, and resource utilization, ensuring delivery remains on schedule and within budget.
  • Report on KPIs, migration progress, and success metrics.
Required Qualifications
  • 7–10+ years of Project/Program Management experience in enterprise IT environments.
  • Proven experience leading large-scale server or data center migrations to AWS.
  • Understanding of AWS cloud services and migration tooling.
  • Hands-on experience with workload discovery, dependency mapping, migration wave planning, and infrastructure/application migration strategies.
  • Familiarity with the AWS 7 Rs migration framework.
  • Experience managing multi-phase, multi-year programs with complex dependencies.
  • Must be located on the West Coast and be open to traveling to San Francisco.
Preferred Qualifications
  • PMP, PgMP, or equivalent certification.
  • Experience with AWS Migration Hub, Application Discovery Service, or similar tooling.
  • Previous experience in migration factory or wave-based delivery models.
  • Stakeholder management experience at executive and technical levels.
