Regulatory Compliance Risk Legal Specialist

Banking Client

Fully onsite in Suffolk, VA - must be local to the area to be considered

5+ month contract, potential to extend

W2 only, not able to support C2C

Daily schedule: Monday-Friday 8:30am-5pm EST

Hourly rate: ~$18-25/hr

 

Required Skills & Competencies:

  • Administrative/Client Services/Customer Service background
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and organizational skills
    • Independent thinker, ability to navigate roadblocks and find solutions on your own
  • Banking industry experience
  • MS Word & Excel skills
    • Must be tech-savvy, quick with computer skills
  • Team player attitude, interact well with others
  • Sharp, professional, and polished communicator
    • Must be punctual and reliable
    • Must be mature, as you’ll be handling sensitive/confidential client data
    • Excellent verbal & written communication skills


 

Desired Skills & Competencies (not required):

  • Legal environment experience – previous paralegal, worked in a law office
  • Experience in legal order processing
  • Previous Bank Operations experience
  • Insight experience – similar to Jack Henry, operating system (looking up accounts/balances/money movement/loans/etc) – you’ll be trained on this tool


Primary Purpose:

To efficiently process all tax liens, levies, garnishments, orders to withhold, & subpoenas with confidentiality daily. Assist branch personnel with inquiries. From time to time, a court appearance may be required to represent the bank as keeper of the records.

 

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Provide friendly and accurate support to the branches as needed
  • Provide confident responses to members as needed on legal orders
  • Process in a timely, accurate, and confidential manner all legal orders received daily (liens, levies, garnishments & subpoenas)
  • Keep up with the laws that govern each type of legal process to keep the bank in compliance with processing
  • Adheres to applicable federal laws, rules, and regulations including those related to Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA)
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties in this job classification

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Express or exchange ideas by means of the spoken word via email and verbally.
  • Exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, use your arms and legs, and sit most of the time.
  • Have close visual acuity to perform activities such as analyzing data, viewing a computer terminal, reading, and preparing documentation.
  • Not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions.
