Job Description:
Location: Baldwin Park, CA (Onsite)
This role supports the maintenance, troubleshooting, and operation of vacuum chamber systems, compressors, HVAC systems, cooling/water lines, and manufacturing equipment. The technician will perform preventative maintenance, diagnose equipment issues, assist with custom fabrication projects, and ensure production equipment remains operational. This position will work closely with engineering and operations teams to maintain critical manufacturing equipment and support continuous improvement initiatives.
- Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on manufacturing equipment and facility systems.
- Ensure all vacuum chambers are fully operational, properly sealed, and leak-free.
- Inspect, troubleshoot, and maintain vacuum chambers, vacuum pumps, and cryogenic pumps.
- Inspect cooling systems and water lines; purge, replace, and maintain them as needed.
- Install and maintain tubing, fittings, pumps, and related components.
- Diagnose and repair equipment issues independently and as part of a team.
- Build simple custom fixtures, tables, and racks.
- Follow safety protocols and operational procedures, especially when working around sensitive materials.
Education: A High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
Experience: A minimum of 2-4 years of experience in a maintenance, manufacturing, facilities, equipment, or mechanical technician role is required. Candidates must have hands-on troubleshooting experience and be comfortable with mechanical assembly/disassembly.
Technical Skills:
- Experience working with HVAC systems.
- Familiarity with vacuum chambers, vacuum systems, mechanical pumps, and cryogenic pumps.
- Ability to diagnose vacuum system issues, leaks, and pump-down problems.
- Experience with tubing and fitting installation, cooling and water line systems.
- Experience with compressors and compressed air systems.
- Ability to use hand tools and perform mechanical assembly and disassembly.
- A basic understanding of physics and mechanical principles.
- Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
- Refrigeration experience.
- Mild soldering or small-scale welding experience.
- Electrical troubleshooting experience, including the ability to read simple wiring diagrams.
- Familiarity with gloveboxes and controlled-environment equipment.
- Experience with general fabrication or mounting manufacturing equipment.
