User Experience Designer

Location: Jersey City, New Jersey (Hybrid)

 
Role Overview

We are seeking a User Experience Researcher to join a strategy team. This role will help internal technology teams and business partners better understand user needs, validate assumptions, and inform product and process decisions that drive business impact. The successful candidate will plan and conduct user research activities, including interviews, workshops, focus groups, and synthesis sessions.

 
Key Responsibilities
  • Plan, conduct, and moderate user interviews, focus groups, workshops, and research sessions.
  • Facilitate collaborative working sessions with business, product, technology, and operations partners.
  • Gather, analyze, and synthesize qualitative research data into clear insights, themes, and recommendations.
  • Support the development of personas, journey maps, service blueprints, and other user-centered design artifacts.
  • Translate user needs, pain points, behaviors, and process observations into actionable opportunities for improvement.
  • Partner with senior stakeholders and business leaders to understand strategic objectives and align research efforts accordingly.
  • Prepare research plans, discussion guides, interview summaries, and executive-ready presentations.
  • Advocate for the voice of the user while balancing business goals, operational realities, and technology constraints.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure research findings are understood and connected to measurable outcomes.
Required Qualifications

Experience:

  • 5-10+ years of experience in UX research, human-centered design, service design, or a related field.
  • Experience conducting qualitative research, including interviews, focus groups, contextual inquiry, workshops, and synthesis activities.
  • Experience creating or supporting personas, journey maps, service blueprints, research summaries, and synthesis deliverables.
 

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Strong facilitation skills with the ability to guide discussions and manage diverse stakeholder groups.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and storytelling skills, with the ability to tailor messages for different audiences.
  • Ability to analyze complex information and distill findings into clear, actionable recommendations.
  • Comfortable engaging with a wide range of audiences, from front-line associates to executive leadership.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple workstreams and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Proficiency with collaboration and presentation tools such as PowerPoint, Microsoft Teams, Copilot, FigJam, and Figma.
Preferred Qualifications
  • A bachelor’s degree in human-centered design, psychology, sociology, research, information sciences, business, or a related field.
  • Experience within financial services, banking, large enterprise environments, or highly regulated organizations.
  • Familiarity with service design, end-to-end experience mapping, and operational process analysis.
  • Experience synthesizing research into executive-ready recommendations or strategic narratives.
  • Ability to build trusted relationships across business, product, technology, design, and operations teams.
Work Environment

This position is for a hybrid work environment, requiring three days onsite. The role involves collaboration with business, product, technology, operations, and executive stakeholders across the organization.
